When did america colonise ciba or is this not part of castros cuba but another island, can anyone explain.

Guantanamo Bay belongs to Cuba but the United States has had a naval
base there since 1903. The United States paid a small rent to the Cuban government until Fidel Castro came to power in 1959. Castro wants the bay back and not a meaningless, insulting rent, but has been ignored by the United States.
