So you want us to divide SOmalia? Ok, tell me how?
I'm new to this boat(somalinet) but I was on mayflower boat so I'm not new to the ocean.
I been reading topics for like a week now and I find some are just waste of time and some are interesting and some are plain dumb and some are plain hateful to the point that the majority are trying to re-write history but really, do they think the average Somali reading & believing this garbage? Anyhow, I have read lots of discussions between the different Qabiils and some appear to be depressed cuz they seem to be online 24/7 and just yip yappin about Qabiil and defending, some Qabiils are not present perhaps cuz they have better things to discuss than Qabiil nontheless, the discussions continues and more hate and more disagreements come out.
Now, I just wanted to suggest since I see many Somalis who are not happy with the status-quo of the country but instead of resolving they always respond with hate, why dont we resolve this issue?
What is the north want?
Independence or Unity?
Now if the issue is Independence, the question comes in my mind is from who? Who is holding the north hostage?
Second, who else is onboard? meaning, we are Somalis, we know the situation in the North, what other communities are in support? So far the three main communities but only One is in favor so how would secession work for that situation?
I want you guys to respond cuz the more you we ignore it the more this issue holds back the North because people who are living in Northern states of SOmalia don't deserve this. The politicians don't care for anything, they are getting paid regardless. If the issue drags for another 15 years they could careless. There is nothing wrong for one to say, hey I dont want to be part of Somalia but tell me how and what piece of the 7 map cake is yours so I can give you your cut.
I'm asking these questions because it is time for this mayhem in Somalia to end, time to start uniting with what ever we agree on, time for the south to come their senses and time for the north to make up their mind.
Warning: if you lower yourself(call me names) expect the same in return and those of you might find it hateful if I respond to a nut-head know that am on the defense side of the issue with forceful offense.

Hey Independence day for the North is fast approaching, you either part of the Boat party or you can wait till the next boat arrives which will be for a very very long time
I think acceptance that the North is doing very well, why people dont want to recognise that i dont know, but we are somalians after all and we dont like giving out recognition that easy if ever...

Mike, Yes Somaliland I think is the prefered name but is Somalia now.
Since you said they are Indepedent, who are 'they'? of course the Entire Country is independent but since you said recognition is needed, then that will be what part? Somaliland to my understand is painted map on the entire North region but in reality that is not what the name reffers to.
They have independance. It's recognition from the member's of the U.N they're after, and are on the verge of receiving it. At least as far as the U.K is concerned, anyway. But i'm being presumptuous in assuming that you're referring to Somaliland.
must admit, no body advocates for somaliland than the UK... no thats a dead cert, i know this one guy who is currently and secretly working on to become the Mayor of Burco then he wants to work up to become the minister of education then fight for higher rank later... Plus he aint doing bad, he already had a secret meeting with several MP's in London on he issue of somaliland... cant reveal his name but he will be known widely very soon

"They" meaning Somaliland. From what i've read, Somaliland is seeking recognition from the world as an independant, sovereign nation, seperate from Somalia.

I think most of the ppl who just hate to see the return of sovereigty for the northern part are old people.
Since 1988 when we were all sent packing toEthiopian refugee by force or out of fear in case the army committed revenge attacks as they did in the Eastern parts i.e Sanaag and Sool. The person born in 1988 will be 20 years in the next 20 odd months.
What does the mafia in the South expect from this generation except war if they ever talk of something other than going our separate ways. Even worse, the ppl in SOmaliland who are against SL recognision contribute nothing and have no influence except their in their family circles.

Habraha cannot divorce us because we still love them.
optomist, for once ignore what you see that is associated with the name SOmaliland, and just concentrate the SOmalia the name that unites us not the region names like Puntland or SOmaliland. With that said, get a habr(wife) of your own first and start discussion the issue I raised.
