THE yob who sparked fury by dressing as a suicide bomber at a demo was jailed for crack dealing, The Sun can reveal.
His sordid past emerged as he apologised for his sick antics in London during Muslim protests at blasphemous newspaper cartoons.
Khayam’s crack-dealing past makes his claim to be defending Islam a SHAM.
The Muslim faith strictly forbids taking or selling drugs — warning that offenders will be punished by God.
Holy book the Koran says drugs are “the work of Satanâ€Â. And selling drugs carries the death penalty in some Muslim countries.
Khayam, 22 — who sparked outrage by dressing as a suicide bomber at a Muslim demo — was jailed for six years in 2002 for possessing crack cocaine.
The former student was released from prison on licence a few months ago — and could now be sent back for breaching his parole.
Khayam was caught for the drug rap after a police chase in his home town of Bedford. He threw a bag containing 2oz of crack from a car window. But a witness handed it to cops.
A man who spent time in jail with him said last night the dealer was known by his street nickname “Skinnerâ€Â.
He said: “Skinner could be in big trouble over this. He was only released on licence. He’s well known to dealers and users in Bedford.â€Â
Outrageous ... Khayam in bomber outfit
Jobless Khayam’s terrorist pose deeply upset relatives of London’s July 7 bombing victims. On Sunday he told The Sun he had no regrets and would do it again.
But yesterday he was forced to apologise by angry elders at his mosque.
Referring to the cartoons, which first appeared in a Danish newspaper, Khayam said: “I found them deeply offensive as a Muslim.
“I felt the Danish newspaper had been provocative and and insensitive.
“But by dressing the way I did, I did the same as the newspaper, if not worse. I do not support terrorism.
“I would like to apologise wholeheartedly to the families of the victims.â€Â
Asif Nadim, chairman of Khayam’s mosque, said: “We condemn the manner in which he participated in the protest. It was un-Islamic.â€Â
Khayam told The Sun: “I did spend time in prison. But I paid the penalty.â€Â
Met police went to Bedfordshire yesterday but did not interview Khayam.
They said the decision was made with local cops “in recognition of their policing needsâ€Â.
