Cartoon protesters try to storm U.S. base

Afghan police today shot and killed several protesters trying to storm a U.S. military base IN Qalat, bringing the death toll from this week's violent demonstrations over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed to at least 10. President Bush today called for an end to the violence over the cartoons. "I call upon the governments around the world to stop the violence, to be respectful, to protect property and protect the lives of innocent diplomats who are serving their countries overseas," Bush said.
