Moderators, since you deleted the poll that was attached to my post, I'm re-posting it again. If you have any decency, I think you should delete the whole post if you find it to be offensive to your own taste.

This proposal requires the consent of the majority of members.

Members please vote yes or, no if you agree, or don’t agree with this proposal. All comments are welcome.

Since you and the moderators are rarely here, and threads that gets started turns into few people saying the same thing over and over again, and breaking all your rules and regulations, and in particular atheists, and tribalists hijacking on just about every thread on this board, let me suggest to you an idea. But first, let me make clear that this idea requires some software modification in Somalinet and this will only make this place conducive and help your own rules and regulations, and the rules of conduct of Somalinet to be more effective. The power to censor is currently only given to the "moderators", and I think most members here ( I could be wrong ) would agree that the moderators are ineffective. Then why don’t you adopt the Paltalk formula where the creator of a thread should have the ability to control the participants of h/her thread?

Paltalk empowers the room creators the ability to moderate their own room (topics). They can ban and mute any of the in-coming participants, just like the censoring ability you bestowed on the moderators of the different 'groups' here. This gives the creator of a topic the ability to control the flow and direction of a conversation in his or, her post.

If the majority of members accept it, you should seriously consider this approach. I hope the silent majority votes.

He didn't listen to Viking's pleas, then what hope for a positive reply do I have? But members please, please vote.

Again I agree with the idea principally....but the abuse that it could bring far outweighs the benefit I am afraid. So could we solve the ensuing and possible abuses?? i am not so sure.

I think i remember this and thats why some members have abandoned this site, but let the majority vote and force these incompetent moders to act.

Thanks, and I do get your point. We can try and see if it works?

What is the difference between the offensive cartoons published by the Danes and the insults (not a debate) that some spew here concstantly? I think this place is getting worse because such posters are allowed and encouraged to contaminate all the topics. Maybe many visitors here are closeted athiests. That is why Islamaphoebes need not to publish cartoons in newspapers insulting the prophet, they should be posting in Somalinet. This site should appeal and invite directly some more Islamophoebes. Let us also invite members of stormfront.com, the KKK to this wonderful site.

I already got your point before you even posted it(excuse my intuition..lol), but the problem is that this place needs a deep cleansing and order...maybe your idea is a good start...believe me the Atheists are getting free ride at our expense and I know that...but they cant hurt a fly in my opinion...but if dhuuso opens an offensive thread and bans those who try to expose his filth isnt that adding insult to injury?? unless of course we execrcise the option of not participating in the first place...which I think we can do even now.

Anyways, lets see how the majority votes.

I am up for law and order.

If that is the case, then they should rename this site---Somaliathiests.com.

I'm not suggesting total censorship, and I'm all for self censorship rather than a big brother approach. If the athiests start a topic they should be given similar rights to moderate their own posts, and then, they can censor abusive posts towards them. I don't think they will censor posts that contribute to any particular given topic that they initiate, I guess only if they want to debate, and not insult. And if any one wants to debate them or, read their posts, that is their personal choice. But the problem is when they turn most topics into Islam bashing, and hijack it into another direction. Their hatred towards Islam has crossed the boundaries of civility and that is why I'm suggesting the authors of any post should be given the right to censor.

Let us see if this post can be a last warning to them, and refrain from polluting other posts?

strongly disagree. The absolute freedom is what makes Somalinet what it is. If you want to be a follower of someone's ideology like blind-dumb sheep, then sign up at Somalia Online. You will have plenty of moderation there. Trust me

Freedom comes with responsibilty, and where is the responsibility here? Or, are you justifying the continous insults and villification of Islam and the prophet in the name of "freedom" in every post? Why can't I have the freedom and request Islam or, the prophet not to be insulted in my own posts? Come out of the athiest closet if you hate Islam and the prophet and join openly your felllow Islam bashers here.

Is that too much to ask?

For your information, Islam is not a human constructed ideology, but a religion from Allah SWT.

the issue isn't religion here, it is about extreme censorship or having the ability to voice your opinions. I dont like it when the prophet (scw) or Islam is made fun of, i really dont. But running away from the insults or simply banning them will make them the winners and not you. I actually think this will broaden your knowlege of things. What is someone insults Islam when you are face to face? How will you "ban" them? Dont you want the experience of having dealt with this before?

There are two catagories of forums: 1) heavy moderation, everyone agrees, boring. 2) little to non, fierce debates, exciting. I know of an Islamic forum which once flourished because it was not so heavily moderated. Shia battled Sunnis, Salafis battles Sufis, bla bla bla. Then the admin didn't like to soo his sect bashed so he banned all oposition. What happened? No one goes there anymore.

Just my 2 cents, and just in case you want to know, I am NOT a closet kaffir.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm pro-free speech, but only with responsiblity, and not to trample on other's right. I have debated Islamic issues with other Musilms and athiests within the boundaries of the rules and regulations in this site, and I have been accused from being a kaafir-pet to a brainwashed robot depending on the topic and particpants. I'm all for sincerte and sensible "fierce" debates regardless of the topic. Lately, we have wittnessed the proliferation of insults and villification of Islam and the prophet which are directed towards posts which have nothing to do with religion. How can one justify that? I have colleagues and friends who don't follow any religion, but they are not as obscene or weild such hatred towards Muslims and Islam. We discuss and debate many different issues civilly.

Debate yes, continious villification, No.

Enough is enough.

Mowhawk,
Your request can easily be accommodated with this software version with group usage. Request a group and the Admin will create one for you that you can moderate in the same fashion as PALTALK. Short of that the General Section is just that GENERAL, anything goes.
I hate it when simpletons dump religious spam into stimulating threads, but you do not hear me crying about it. Equally there are many feeble minded posters such Tyron, LionXaar, Mukhtar, Moguul, Eritrean guy. etc… but no one here cares about calling for their banishment.

If you do not like the General forum then ask for your own exclusive group and accept those whom you want into it. Plain and simple, other than that leave the General Section alone.

Although that was a good idea, however no one in this place is interested in ideas. It is the playground for the stupid and the brainless. Look at the topics posted here, from counting farts to Galol's bewilderment why can't he abuse more of Islam. Uptruder is right, if you are in a sewage treatment plant, you don't complain about the smell. Love it or loathe it, this is Somalinet. I think they should change their name to somalianarchist.com.

You made valid points, but why would the general forum become a zone of vilfying Islam? Muslims are not perfect, and the reactions of many Muslims to athiests is as a low point too. I think Galol has reached beyond a point of Islamphoebe, definately contributed by the incitement of those Muslims. I don't mind other athiests who reguirtate the same stuff, but they never cuss Islam and our prophet like he does. I do believe, that there is no compulsion in Islam, but all I did was questioning why Galol as a wicked smart would react this way, which encourages the contamination of all posts by the tail end of athiests---- Why would they contaminate my posts? I don't want to know about the group discussions----I'm always an open and reasonable person. I like anyone who challenges me-----not idiots like Galol who made a custom of villifying prophet Mohamed repeatedly here. Followed by his swarms....

Law

I believe that if we can and want to change Somalia for the positive, then we may obliged to start from Somalinet. There are many good Somalis here irrespective of their tribal alleigance and foki.ng shocking one's too. If we can't unite and succeed here as a cyber joint, what chances do we have in Somalia? I just pushed a general idea....let me say that those who deal with the details are the smart ones like you and others, and should take it from there.

A hung poll....you guys may have a point. 4 to 3
