David Irving, who had pleaded guilty and insisted during his one-day trial that he had had a change of heart and now acknowledged the Nazis' World War II slaughter of six million Jews, had faced up to 10 years behind bars.



Before Monday's verdict, Irving conceded he had erred in contending there were no gas chambers at the Auschwitz concentration camp.



Irving said: "I made a mistake when I said there were no gas chambers at Auschwitz."


He was charged under a federal law that makes it a crime to publicly diminish, deny or justify the Holocaust.

I was about to make a post about this a few minutes ago.

Its is punishable to even question jewish history in many European countries..

Kambuli...maybe thats true...but its about time we did the same thing by any means neccessary. Actually I think we the muslim ppl are winning the war of the hearts and minds even in the west and despite the ever growing propaganda's and bad mouthing of Islam and muslims and despite the smear campaign run by some Islamophopes...just like you see it here on snet and despite what some extremist muslims might do to turnish the image of Islam(although I am sure they think they are doing a just and a good job).

Anyways, More ppl are learning about Islam and more are converting...we are learning how to civily couter react to such provocations and so on. So we need to keep improving with the help of Allah. Like for ex. not letting this issue go un-noticed.

There is no double standards. It is really self-defeating to make baseless accusations in place of valid arguements that can hold water.

Holocaust denial, altough I think shouldn't be crime at all, is different kettle of fish all together from satical caricatures of 'prophets'. The latter has long and celebrated history in the West. I posted equally detestable derisory Jesus paintings. Mohammed is seen no different from Jesus, Moses, David or any other revered religious figure in the West.

The holocaust happened to an ENTIRE PPL, attacking it's accuracy is in actuality attacking an ENTIRE PPL. Making disrepsectful cartoons isn't no matter how much you wanted to be. If you ca't see the qualitative distinction between making fun of revered religious figure (and I think SOME of the cartoons when too far) and questioning whether ppl should be treated humanly (THAT is what holocaust deniers are trying to get at that you dumb muzzies can't spot. When you question the holocaust you are in fact questioning the present treatment of jews) that is understandable. YOU'RE part of the problem!
