""No one who regularly reads the Somali websites would have failed to observe the deep antipathy of the secessionists towards the main clan of Puntland to the East of Sool. The secessionists see the people of Southern Somalia in two different ways; those they hate and those they utterly despise. In the first category belong the main clan in the East of Puntland that the secessionists often refer to as Majeerteenia. The hatred for this clan borders on a grudging admiration for their perceived smartness and resourcefulness and is seen as the only credible source that could unravel their secession. Hence, all the hate articles about this clan in the Somali websites and the vitriolic personal attacks on President Abdullahi Yussuf. The other clans in the South, particularly those in Mogadishu, are simply despised. They are considered as no threat to their secession and in some ways are seen as a useful ally to be cultivated against those based in Garawe. The once famous pro-secession gaffe by the Prime Minister, Gedi, is considered as one shared by many others of his clan .In this regard, the strategy of the secessionists is to rake up, through the internet media, the old mistrust between the Majeeteen and the Hawiye which they reckon, rightly or wrongly, will ensure Somalia will remaining in its quackmire for ever."
