Massacre in Ontario

SHEDDEN, Ont. -- Four vehicles containing the bodies of eight men were taken by police from a rural road to Toronto last night.
The grisly discovery earlier yesterday raised the spectre of a underworld battle that ended in what may be Ontario's largest massacre.
"This is eight bodies and four vehicles. It is easier to pick them up (than to) reconfigure them," said Ontario Provincial Police Const. Doug Graham of the transport trucks used to take the vehicles to the coroner's office.
"I've never seen (a case) where they've taken the vehicles together."
Police on the ground and in the air scoured the area for clues to how a tow truck, three cars and eight dead men ended up near a rural home on a road near the village of Shedden.
More questions than answers remained last night, but there was no mystery about the effect on startled residents whose yearly excitement is usually the summer rhubarb festival.
Police released no details about the possible motive and refused to confirm reports each of the men had been shot.
"We are appealing for help from the public ... if they hear or saw anything suspicious on this roadway yesterday or last night," said OPP Sgt. Dave Rektor.
What police revealed and Sun Media learned yesterday:
The bodies of eight white men were found inside several vehicles about 8:30 a.m. local time by a resident of the area, just west of St. Thomas and south of Hwy. 401; it's unclear which bodies were found where; one vehicle contained four bodies, sources said; one car, an Infiniti, was parked about 10 metres off the road on the western edge of a 10-hectare woodlot.
Another car, a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, was parked further east, just off the road along the tree line. The third car was hooked up to the tow truck, parked at the side of the road between the two other cars.
Rektor refused to speculate if the men were killed in the always-simmering battle between rival bike gangs or any other gangland rivalry.
Shootings and the dumping of bodies have occurred several times in the area as local gangs, then Hells Angels and Banditos fought over the area's lucrative drug trade.
