Eelaay girls are the most beautiful in the world after the rains of course.
And someone said their language was sexy too (you know I am into taht nowdays)
I remember Samatar's song
Biri le hurriyow
Hogol is birasoo
Hereeda jiiftoo
Heelaa badiinsho
Maba le Hisabanee
Barbaarki heesaa
gaalii horaayoo
Hoorkii la maalaa
Haboog leytii
hanshabdhawaasoo
And then there was the story in that other song in which he fel asleep under tree exhausted after searching for his beloved `red girl' for days and woke up to find her sitting beside him " Huburow a koyte hey baal fadheetee"?
Do you remember? Or was it the same song? Ah memories

I am impressed with your knowledge of the Arlaadi dialect.
It's the same song though and it's called Huburow
Hereeri dheerkoo hambal ku roogto laamoo haboogeen
iyaa hoos fadheedi, ameel humbooyo waa horteey la sheeni wal hay dhowaayi
Huburowna koyti, ha i baal fadheeti
I know they are beyond stunning and are in league with Burco dames and the Xawaadle of Beled Weyne chicks, and the accent is somewhat exotic and adds a little flavor to the whole seductive aura

I saw this guy singing that particular song in Australian version of American Idol (I think somebody posted here). He said he was Somali and the song was a Somali song but I thought he was joking.
There is nothing really Somali about that song.
Now I need a translation…

Great lyrics isn't it and wonderful imgery. Even their use of colours is better than mainstream(Huburow means `yellowy girl'). Ordinary wallaweyn wil say "caddeey" which is ludocrous while reer woqooyi will say "casaan"(red girl') which is equally outlandish.
Dhaga here is the rest
Biri le Huriyow = Hillaac baa iftiimaya
Hogol is biraasoo = Roobna waa soo hoorayaa
Hereeda jiiftoo = Xareed baa wadhan
Heelaa badiinshoo = Xooluhuna buuxaan
Mabale hisabanne = oo aan la tirin karin
Haboogleytee = gabdhaii hagoognaa
Hanshabddhawaasoo = ay sacab isku dareen
In others a Somali nomad's idyll, the stuff camel-fockers dreams are made of.
