The book fails to discuss the clans in Pre-Somaliland (Somalia) for its methods of conflict resolution. It does focus much on a one sub-clan of Darod, a very narrow minded thinking of the conflict in Sool and Sanag in general.

The author seems to neglect that History of the Dervish fighters under their spirited leader Sheikh Mohammed incorporated many clans, which sped up their success of 21 years of resistance against the combined forces of Britain, Italy, and Ethiopia. The most popular clans that significantly contributed to this fervor of nationalism were Ogaden, Wrsangeli and Dhulbahante. The former and latter supported the Sheikh for their paternal and maternal blood affiliation.
