The zar is a healing dance that is sung and performed by groups of nomadic women from northern Somalia. A woman afflicted by illness or spirit possession dances and enters into a trance. The dance is primarily used for healing purposes, but it also serves as a community event.

So the question is, do the notherners still perform it.........??????????
