They found their niche! I think you're implying we humans or Homo sp. sapiens descended from monkeys. If you are, you couldn't be any further from the truth.

Humans, monkeys, gorillas, chimps etc all shared a common ancestor. Monkeys are like our cousins with the great apes being akin to our siblings.
