There are topical, over-the-counter, liquids that can be applied to the tooth to temporarily ease the pain. Ask your local pharmacist.

There are too many possible causes of the pain to offer any permanent suggestion. You need to see a dentist who can diagnose from an examination and x-ray.

Don't wait any longer than you have to. These things can get very nasty very fast.

They are doing wonderful things with topicals these days. You will scarcely feel a pinch.

An x-ray and exam will not hurt.

If the tooth has to be removed, most wisdom tooth extractions are done under general anesthesia.

If it can be restored, your dentist can prescribe a tranquilizer for you to take before your appointments.

It will be worse the longer you wait.

You dont have to be scared of needles, it aint worth it walahi. I've just made an appointment to take a tooth out today and even though Im nervous I know it has to be done.

As Grant said above, an x-ray wont hurt. The quicker the problem is solved the better. You can always ask your dentist to numb your gum up and be gentle.

Once you're done with your treatment you wont believe you were scared of it, believe me.
