Do you think Egypt is corrupt country?
I think so. Its getting more corrupter as ppl become more poorer and the rich more richer. Its not a democracy either, but a violent and increasingly unstable kleptocracy, in which American taxpayer dollars keeps it afloat. I would hate to see Egypt slide into bloody civil war like Somalia, but ever new day that possibility comes nearer. Lets hope not

I was thinking about going there too until I saw Egyptians who were doctors in their country fleeing. IT was really strange. this country is suffering massive brain drain, and academics are strictly repressed by a system that is designed in a such a way as toe the Western political line.
For sure America's aid of 2 billion dollars a year will some day stop. How will it survive then? How will the Hosni dynasty survive? what will happen in Egypt socially if the masses especially the Fellahin and Nubians realize that Hosni funnels the 2 Billion to suppress opposition? How will they REALLY feel when they realize that the Hosni dynasty pockets most of that money so that Israel can breath? It will get really interesting.
One more thing, most countries do have corruption, but what country enitrely survives on the dollar of another nation? small percentage most likely

PHD-You really need a brain transplant, dear. How can you even such a question. Egypt has some of the most educated people (one ofthe highest rate of pHD holders in the world) yet there is a huge unemployment rate. They have a tyrant who jails the opposition parties's members and currently grooming his son to be the next tyrant of Egypt. ALL Arab countries are corrupt.

Most of the Egyptian people are conservatives; they are honest, hardworking and disciplined. When I last visited Cairo, while in downtown, I asked an Egyptian the way (Sharif St. something) to the Somali club. I was astonished when he offered me to personally show me the way. When we reached the street (after about 5 minutes of walking), I tried to compensate him for the trouble; he vehemently refused it and stated he's only seeking ajr from Allah. I witnessed numerous acts of kindness and welcoming from the population. Of course, the secular administration is corrupt. One time, when I arrived at Cairo airport, I was shocked when a higher official (captain something) of the customs/police (don't exactly recall) complained to me and asked me some baqshiish.

Salaams there. your right Egypt has the highest academia, but that academia is heavily suppressed, and most of that academia atleast majority of them have grown up with the weak mentality that everything Hosni does is nationalistic in nature and best for future Egyptian generations. Remember though the Shah of Iran was destroyed by Students, I repeat STUDENTS. Theres something wrong and soft about Egyptian academia much like being passive or hopeless about Egypt.
Egypt is run by a family. Its not even a Republic, its a family run state. Especially its a family run state that survives on American taxpayer dollars. The question is will Egypt implode like Somalia or change course much like aparthied era South Africa, which for all practical purposes noticed that their ship will sink if drastic changes were not undertaken
