Ethiopia: Attack Helicopter Shot down in Gaba Gabo

It is reported that Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) gunners have shot down one attack helicopter in the town of Gaba Gabo on Wednesday July 18 at around 3:30 local time. Gabo Gabo is about 70 kilometers north east of the city of Qabri Dahar.

Sources who want their identity not revealed because they are not authorized to speak with the media have confirmed to Ogaden Online reporter in Qabri Dahar that Tigrian militia heads were on this helicopter. These unnamed sources refused to reveal the identity of those reported to have been on this plane.

Eyewitnesses on the ground confirmed that there were no survivors from this helicopter. It marks the first time an Ethiopian military airplane is shot down by ONLF fighters who are not known to have air defense missile capability. I dream of Islamic Horn of Africa and I'm ready to work for it. Majority of Ethiopian population are muslims and Ethiopia is very afraid of what's happening in Somalia because they know that Islamic movement will spread further if it gets a chance.

Why don't the somalis in the region become part of Ethiopia and work with the government? Seriously, if a minority ethnic group like the Tigreys can rule Ethiopia then so could Somalis. Instead of creating rebel groups, the somalis and oromos need to get involved in the government and make sure government funds are spent on developing their regions.

It's actually pretty close to 50-50 Salahudin. An Islamic government ruling Ethiopia will never fly. You know that. Why can't you dream of some sort of federation where the different parties cooperate with each other for economic improvement and political stability?

MADM, there is already a federal system operating in Ethiopia. The point is the Oromo majority and Somali minority have been marginalised for so long, itÂ’s not a surprise there are resistance fighters operating from these groups. Instead of moving towards reconciliations and peace building, the government has decided to attack Muslims and Islam. That is just likely to lead to creating more enemies and more divisions. They have resistance fighters from all corners against them and they are getting themselves involved in Somali issues that are just likely to get them into a huge conflict. It is a silly thing for the Ethiopian government to even entertain or think about at this point. They should be concerned about where small actions such as these are likely to lead to for the whole region.

This is exactly wrong. What is actually going on is the current Ethiopian government is marginalizing all non-Tigray and Amharic peoples. Their religious orientation is now irrelevent. There are Muslims in senior government posts - but for the most part those Muslims are highlanders. You are seeing what is going on there in religious terms when actually viewing things from ethnic terms would be much more accurrate.

The problem with the Oromos and Somalis is lack of unity. If they united, they would be a more credible force in Ethiopia. They would be able to win solely on forming a loose coalition with other groups like the Amhara.

This is absolutely true of the Oromo. They are very much divided. Somewhat true of the Somali, but the Somali are a relatively small ethnic group in Ethiopia.

The Meles regime can't survive forever. I am hoping (I know it's a reach) that Meles will recognized that his destiny can either be that of a small man grasping at small solutions to stay in power, or he could be a big man, and look to shape the destiny of his country for future decades. I suspect it will be the former, I am hoping it will be the latter.

Muslom Government will replace. Somalia and Ethiopia will be Muslim Dominated region
