WHAT SHOULD WADAADS DO NOW?
In your opinion what should be the next Wadaad move?
Let me give you my views but plaese feel free to add as you like.
1. Consolidate their power in Mog. They could do this by banning qat, cleaning up Mog and sharing power with local people among other things. They could also demonstrate their honesty and pan-Somali credentials by righting wrongs like auditing looted properties etc.
2. Attack the useless Baidoa Govt which is now doing crazy things like inviting Ethiopians when they should be trying to outsmart and outflank the Islamists. This will be a popular move in the short term but of course disastrous for the nation in the long term
3. Invite the useless govt to come to xamar and other areas Isalmists rule(remember Wadaads rule less than 15% of the country) and then outflank them.
Add your yours. Thank you

1. They canÂ’t do number1 because they are still at war
2. They wouldnÂ’t attack the government unless the government attacks it because they have many supporters there and still are hopeful that they are going to be able to influence a change within the government. And also, they are Mulsims and want to go through every possible root to peace to save innocent lives.
3. They have already invited the government on several occasions. The government appears to have another agenda. I personally wouldn’t trust Abdullahi Yusuf who was crying “terrorists” all over the place since he was out of prison to get money and military support. I don’t understand why the Islamic courts were even considering talking to the warlords and their warlord president.
I donÂ’t think they can do anything but wait and build up militarily support. If they get attacked or see Ethiopian troops in their regions they should attack back and go all the way. That mean drive the last remaining traitor and Ethiopian out of the land. Declare a new Somali president and get back to rebuilding the country. Siad Barre was driven out with relative ease. It will be quite easy driving out a weak government occupying one rural town supported by cowardly Ethiopian troops.

The wadaads made a huge mistake by not advancing on Baidoa when the impotent government was weak. They could have taken Bay/Bakool/Gedo in two days. They halted and that gave Abdullahi Yusuf breathing space to solicit Ethiopian help. The scenario today is that Ethiopian troops have come to the rescue of the government. Somalis have this profound hatred for ethiopians and it wouldn't surprise anyone if Abdullahi Yusuf is assasinated by his own body guides. Even if the ethiopians have superior fire arms, the message of jihad against ethiopia is one that goes home to many ordinary somalis. The wadaads need to mobilise the people of Baidoa- it would be enough if a sheikh in Baidoa's mosque calls for a jihad.
In my mind there is no doubt that the wadaads would prevail. Whether or not they would be able to govern is another matter. The wadaads are good at bringing peace, but the likelyhood of them forming a government is another thing. The relative peace we can observe in Mogadishu is the result of fear by an invading ethiopian force. Once that is gone, the wadaads could be split into clans and that is a dangerous thing.
From a military point of view the wadaads should advance on Baydhabo, use their religious propaganda against the impotent government. That would be enough to send a message to the government and before you know it Abdullahi Yusuf and his thugs would relocate to Galkacyo where the whole process would be repeated.
From the viewpoint of an ordinary somalis the wadaads have brought peace- much awaited peace, they have humiliated the warlords that have held fellow somalis hostage. Their success has surprised observers. I say go on and take all somali towns but make sure you leave managing the peace to others.

My gut instinct would tell me that the wadaads storming Baydhabo would be a nice thing to do.........especially since they know these defeated warlords really didn't give up, but are waiting for their chance for betrayal.
But they played their cards brilliantly
showing utmost restraint which will help them garner whatever public opinion is left.
1. They allowed their victory to sink in, and are also solidifying their territories.
2. They are giving the public the taste of 'freedom' & liberation from the yokes of the oppressive warlords. There is little doubt that most every able-bodied individual will contribute in some way to defending the land now that they know what is at stake if the 'criminals' are allowed to come back.
3. Due to the extortion & criminal activities that were allowed to flourish, prices were sky high and now things are safe & getting more affordable for the residents of Xamar. Safety is the first condition for the increased generation of economic activity.
4. By the government refusing Khartoum talks, they looked like fools and the EU & others threatened to withhold A Yussuf's lunch money if he refused any longer.......shortly he recanted his threat to boycott Khartoum. The wadaads maintained their composure and allowed the warlords to leave peacefully, they have the moral high ground.
This is wisdom that very few seculars can ever hope to attain.
Why?
This is not conventional Machiavellian logic, but Quranic wisdom...........looks like the UIC's policy makers studied sura al Anfal (the sura of jihad) really well, especially the one about intention to decieve.
60. And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allâh and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom Allâh does know. And whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allâh shall be repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated unjustly.
61. But if they incline to peace, you also incline to it, and (put your) trust in Allâh. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.
62. And if they intend to deceive you, then verily, Allâh is All-Sufficient for you. He it is Who has supported you with His Help and with the believers.
63. And He has united their (i.e. believers') hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts, but Allâh has united them. Certainly He is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
64. O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Allâh is Sufficient for you and for the believers who follow you.

^^^^ This aya in the Quran is why statements that people think Somalia is permanently scarred by tribalism don't bother me and I don't believe them.
Allah will unite the hearts of those who repent and return to Allah.
The divisions in the Muslim world are not political divisions, but rather divisions of the heart. That can be united by Allah at His time & choosing.

1. Impose strict dress codes
2. Promote Arabic language
3. Forbid (moving) pictures, foreign media, and making music.
4. Punishing Galol-likes (in this dunya and hereafter).
Once that realized :
5. Go for the bigger Jihad (to Baidoa)

1. Strict dress codes are relative. The whole world has decency laws with regard to what you can wear in public.
2. You're typing in a foreign language right this moment, I don't see you feeling insecure about it
. I don't see anything wrong with promoting Arabic language. It is the language of our religion, Quran & sunnah. You wouldn't have any problem with promoting English for study of science would you? If the religion is important to you, so should religion. It's not self-hating, it's not being an Arab lover, it's none of that, and anyone who thinks in those terms is really deluded or doesn't care about his/her religion.
3. I don't really have the knowledge to comment on that.
4. I don't think the courts will be able to extradite Galol
5. They already passed the Badoia trap.
