Coup D'Etat Rocks Somali Transitional Government

At approximately 9pm local time, a broadcast by the Minister of Information Jelle on government radio announced the ouster of Somali President Abullahi Yusuf Ahmed and his Prime Minister Ali Geedi.

"The Council of Ministers has convened and impeached Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf and Prime Minister Ali Geedi on charges of high treason against the State. As of now, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Hussein Aideed, has assumed the functions as Head of State. All government forces are urged to remain in their barracks until further notice."

The where abouts of the deposed Somali leader remain unknown. Rumours circulating in the city say that he has fled to neighboring Ethiopia.
