Well, a drop in birth rates is good. Japan is a small Island with more than enough humans.

I did like the Japanese approach to work though. They used to build excellent teams and have loyal workers. I'm surprised they would throw that under the bus. Worked well for them.

I don't think that drop in birth rates is good for Japannese because they need workers with their huge industries. Do you think is good idea to get workers from outside Japan?

OK

Runti that is weird. Western values tend to change the traditions and cultures of the people, but didnt know they could cause mental illness. that makes sense too, because western values cause mental illness in American and in Europe.

By i think the Japanese are inferior anyway. No other nation embraces western culture more than them. They worship american celebrities. It's kind of sick. And drop in birht rates is not a good thing.

Actually, this is a population crisis for Japan.

They have a large old population that can't work, they need more young people to continue working to fill in all the jobs that are being vacated.

And why?

Because they are afraid of losing the lifestyle they lead......so young people are not getting married.......no babies.

Contrast that to our Prophet's (saw) advice where he instructed us to get married early & to have a lot of children.

Children are one of the irreplaceable joys in this world, so is an intimate relationship with your spouse.

^^Very true. Some European countries are actually seeing negative birthrates and this will spell disaster for their economies. You can only import so many people from East Europe and they stop reproducing when they attain middle class status.

The WORLD, not just Japan, has to come to grips with the population issue. The fact is, there are too many people in the world. So growing population rates are not sustainable.

"I don't think that drop in birth rates is good for Japannese because they need workers with their huge industries. Do you think is good idea to get workers from outside Japan?"

If necessary, yes. Why not? But that should be the exception. Ultimately, as industry becomes more and more efficient, we need fewer workers to sustain more people. Therefore, Japan and other industrialized societies should be able to support their aging populations with a smaller work force.

As for the Japanese adoption of western values. Actually, Japan adopts culture from all over the world, and has for the last 150 years. The Japenese are famous for taking something from somewhere else in the world, and making it Japanese. The Japense say they take the best from all over the world, and make it theirs. Nothing wrong with that.

This reminded me of a funny conversation I had with an old Texan man......I think he was a Korea veteran.

He was talking about the Asians. His daughter married a man from Singapore and she told him she was thinking about raising him in Singapore. He says.

Texan: That's fine, if you want him to grow up to be a ROBOT.
Gedo_Boy: Laughing come on man, what do you mean?

Texan: What I mean is that those societies have no originality. They copy everything from everybody. They have Communist regimes and from Day 1 they are told what to do and can't think for themselves.
