THE DANGER OF SPEAKING SOMALI IN PUBLIC (must read story)

Post by LionHeart-112 »

This is a true story..not very funny but very very very true. I can even give you the number of my friend who was with me when it happened. He will verify its authenticity. So don't call me a liar.

The other day i was at this restaurant, Chilli's, when i had a confrontation with a very belligerent and somewhat bald black man. First of all, i'd like to say that i don't normally eat at cheap establishments like Chilli's but my friend begged me to go anywhere but my usual dining spot where i get 4 star service-Sonic drive-in.

Anyway, while we were waiting for our order of ribs and fries with Mohitos, my phone rang. I know, i should have put it on vibrate but it slipped my mind. I answered it. As usual, there is a typical Somali dameer on the other end. I wonder how pleasant my life would be if i didn't deal with Ogadeen people everyday but i digress. Anyway, like a typical somali, he starts asking who i'm. WHY THE FU.CK DO SOMALI PEOPLE ASK "YAA WAAYE" when someone answers the phone. SERIOUSLY. I'm like bit.ch, you called me! At least ask nicely like Americans do "may i speak with such and such person." Don't come at me with that "yaa waaye" shit when you picked up the phone, dialed my number and heard my voice when i said "Halow." So after my usual grunt and moan, i said "Waa kii habartaa dhabi jiray."

He got mad and started lecturing me on PHONE ettiquete. I knew it was my friend Abdirahman Caga dheere. Anyway, i cut him off before he started going on and going about how to be polite and all that useless shit. So i started yelling "War, waa Aniga". I said that about 3 times. This got the attention of the black couple seated on the booth next to ours. He thought i was saying "nigger." At first i was confused. I'm like, negro, you best back off before i push this cup down your throat. Then it hit me. Apparently, he was talking about when i said 'ANIGA"...To those of you who don't speak Somali "Aniga" means "me". When i was telling my friend on the phone "waa aniga" which means "It's me", this negro thought i was saying something aobut niggers or calling some1 a nigger. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I explained to him, he apologized. It was a really interesting afternoon. After a while, i agreed to pay for his fried chicken and even got a doggy bag for his water-melon and hot sauce. I made a black friend. This coming halloween, i'm thinking of going as him.

LH

I will give an account of the benefits of either speaking or in this case listening to Somali.

In the good ol' days, I was dating this Begian chick, who was a friend of this French chick, it so hapened that one day I was alone with the French chick and just chatting, in the background, a Somali song was playing, I don't know the song but I still remember some of the lyrics that go something like "Aniga ii tali, ii tali ii tali, Iyada tuuroo, aniga ii tali" then she asks "Isn't this song SOmali" I said "yes" she says "Then why are they singing about Italy" I explained to her that it wasn't Italy but ii tali and then the whole concept of the song. She gasps and sighs and then says "You know that is exactly what I am going through" I said "How" she says "Oh Sir-Luggoyo, you don't know but I am attracted to you and you are attracted to my friend and I can't get you" I said "The hell you can get me. I am attracted to you too" then she says "How can you be attracted to the two of us?" I said "Come closer, I will prove it to you"

So you see, sometimes it brings the koochie home

Sir Luggoyo-loooooooool@ iitaalii..but dude, your story sounds totally made up. Laughing Laughing French chicks are pretty shy.

Michael-thanks dude. It's 100% pure fiction. My little brother was talking about the other day how some somali words mean something bad in english like

"geey" which means "take" in somali sounds "gay"

aniga-a nigger is pretty funny.

xplosive-where have u been man? Very Happy

Gurta, I bet you have been through similar predicaments and managed to sail through smoothly. You know, you sometimes have fast and think on your toes.
