Books

Post by Babygal »

I need to read a good book, but I'm not sure which one. Life Of Pi is the only novel I've read voluntarily in years. Although I love it more than any book I've ever read, I need to read something which doesn't require me to think as much. I love insight, and philosophical reading, but lately I've grown weary of anything intelligent. The vast multitude of dimwitted idiots around me has jostled the latent slacker side of me to wake, and I don't care to think on my summer vacation. Rolling Eyes I only wish to sit outside reading something that isn't too heavy, listening to Porcupine Tree, and finding peace in the divine presence of nature.

Any book reccomendations?

Anything by Sydney Sheldon....pure brain candy. You don't have to think, and if you miss a part, you can get the gist of it later.

lia have you read Gary Paulsen's Hatchet. The gist is pretty simple and takes like ten minutes to set up, it's Paulsen's examination of the main character's emotions and thoughts through the rest of the book, though, that really sets it apart. Nothing too heavy, but nothing too light, either.

John Grisham and Steven King novels are a cool way to kill time without exercising the brain cells too much. Laughing

Babygal: I highly recommend you to buy 'Chronicle of a Death Foretold', 'The Autumn of the Patriarc', 'Love in Time of Cholera' and 'One Hundred Years of Solitude', all them by the great Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, Nobel Prize in 1982 if my memory serves.

Also, any book by Paul Auster. He's funny and really worth reading.
