I don't think we ex-patriates will be able to easily adjust to harsh living conditions back home.
A friend of mine went to Marka & just got back, he was talking about what an ordeal it was just to use the toilet. No running water, no flushing toilets, good old toilet hole where you gotta crouch for what seems like an eternity.
Merka maxaa karabtaa, Somalis in the UK take showers in buckets!! Walaahi I don't know how Somalis live there.. London ****, big time!
From what I heard the Indians in London have corrupted the welfare system. I was reading an article that talked about the plight of Somali refugees in London, about how their case managers are Indians/Pakis & will push them in to renting from them or their Indian/Paki friends.
I am talking about run dow, filthy homes, creaking & falling apart, talk about exploitation

Yeah man, but not everyone can afford such a lifestyle, I remember even back in the day, some people didn't have running water & no roof over their toilets.

Caana-Nuug,
Thanks for sharing with us....
Why didn't you ask your friend who was complaining about lack of running water in Somalia" Saad Ma Ku Ogeyd"..
I like this story and I told so many times..:
This women from Las-Anod, visited Edan, Yemen.... She stayed there for about one month, at that time in Edan people rode Gaadhi Faras.... When she came back to Las-Anod, she asked some one "Aaway Gaadhi Faras"
and someone standing next to her answered " Saad Ma KU ogeyd"
Since when every town in Somalia had running water?
Also I liked the children running in the water... Very dangerous for electrocuting....But we did the same thing...I remember whenever it rains we used to like to stand under the gutters....
That was then...
I didn't like #2...so many weapons.... Very scary...
