Strange things about Dance

Post by ABSAME' »

Laughing Well , Strange things I found out about Dance/dancing and its varieties ,whether as an art form ,self-expression, devotion or celebration, dancing is universal. It conditions the mind, rekindles the body and frees the spirit. DonÂ’t forget to take either Ur girl friend or wife to the Manhattan Lincoln Center. It becomes the stage at the annual July frolic known as Midsummer Night.

1-Belly dancing, as it is known in the West , grew out of the Muslim recognition, even appreciation, of human sexuality, allowing a woman to express her role as wife and mother.

2-Copoeira –Brazil’s fast , graceful martial art dance, originated from African slaves from Angola. They developed this form of martial art both to protect themselves and to fight for their freedom disguising it as dance in order to practice it openly.

3-Disco Fever, During the sixties, European discos had set the stage for a universal boom in dance clubs as platforms for rebellion.

4-Break Dancing, in the late Seventies, city youth muscles into macho dance form that emerged from the Black ghettos., expressing ‘attitude” Break Dancing was a statement of pride as well as an irrepressible display of vitality, sophisticated choreography and acrobatic moves that amazed passersby and attracted admiring audiences.

5-Grooving on Stage—Lingala, “Swing your Hips” What a Niikis on this dance. Lingala is one of the major languages of Congo.

Kamal, I haven't looked into Rock and Roll but you can tell us. I came to know of it also that it had an influence on Somali music.

Gurey, i didn't know that but according to what I found out from a book I read somewhere that it originated from Muslim. But it said something about BerBers. Do they mean Berber?

Cawar, Are you Wadaad? Laughing The topic has nothing to do with what gender or who dances but the varieties of dances and where they originated from. How come you so slow to grasp that?
