Of course itÂ’s torture. That is probably why they canÂ’t take the detainees to civilian courts. They are just going to put on show for people. Using such evidence to convict a person is unjust and unfair.

This is what happens when you endorse non-state violence. The Islamic world has brought this situation upon itself.

How many times, right here on Somalinet, have I been counseling against non-state violence and the support you find for it amongst the Ummah? How many times, over how many years, have I counseled that supporting non-state violence puts innocent members of the Islamic Ummah at risk? And time and again, on these very pages, what have I heard?

"You love life, we love death."
"Sacrifices have to be made to achieve an Islamic world."
"We don't care about the consequences."
"It doesn't matter what you to do to us, we will not stop."

Well, the chickens are coming home to roost. Surely none of these developments are a surprise. When a society endorses the use of violence outside of the Westphalian state system, it has to recognize what the consequence of that is. The Westphalian state system rose out of the ashes of European ethnic and religious wars that killed almost 25% of the European population prior to that time. And while we did see tremendous violence within the system, it was accountable violence, which the system is now, more than ever, able to put the breaks on.

If Muslims want to be treated with the rule of law, Muslims have to accept the rule of law. Until they are able to do that, they will forever be subjected to injustice.

No peace, no justice.
