Somali speaker accused of plotting political coup

Somaliweyn Media Center (SMC) The transitional federal government of Somalia has laid blame on the speaker of its parliament of scheming what it has entitled a political overthrow against the government by turning some of the lawmakers in to the Islamists side.

Senior official of the government told Al-Shrqal Awsat from the line of Baidoa that the head of the parliament left a side the constitution of the fragile government and plotting a political coup against it by catching the attention of the Islamists.

He was referring to the speakerÂ’s lately journey to

the capital Mogadishu where he is meeting with high-ranking Islamists leaders.
The officials said Sharif Hassan hasnÂ’t had consultations with president Yusuf and Premier Ali Mohamed Ghedi, who had tipped off the speaker his visit to the capital Mogadishu before he has gone.

“Sharif Hassan has never respected the law and the regulation of the government and he took his own decision by speaking with the Islamic courts” the official told the London stationed Al-Sharqal Awsat on condition of anonymity.

“He made that with the awareness of that there is no talks between the government and the Islamists since the last round of the Arab league sponsored talks of Somali rivals broken down” he added.

He pointed out that the speaker is no representative from the government and the whole thing he makes is particular for him.

“The government has no any relation with the Islamists” he emphatically said.

“He didn’t also inform the government his trip, we only heard from the media, we got surprised why he done stepped this ugly move” the official added.

The official also stated the speaker has turned down to have talks with the president and the prime minister before he flew from Nairobi to Mogadishu.
