I am interested in purchasing a house in America but I don't see how it is possible to do that without getting into ribo and sh*t. So called Islamic Banks have ribo too since they charge interest but call it by a different name. How did you good practising muslims of Somalinet purchase a house? I mean those of you that are not millionaires and sh*t.
Gaalos and demure, do not reply please.

Ugaas,
Gaal here, but you don't seem to be getting a response from the Muslims on the board, so I am going to tell you what my Yemeni neighbors are doing, some of whom have been here more than thirty years.
I don't know the name of the Imam, but they got a fatwa to the effect that it is better to buy with riba' than to pay rent and never own your own home. They can only buy houses they will live in themselves. They cannot buy to rent out or for investment.
They are taking out standard loans with western banks.
I may be able to get a copy of the fatwa from one of my neighbors, or you could talk to your own Imam.

Ugaas
The problem of the riba exists but you might find some loop holes depending on which Imam you ask.
If you are serious...try Islam Online.
PS. Like Grant said..I know many many muslims who got Fatwa's from
some Imams authorizing them to buy the house instead of renting it.

Ugaas dini i assume you live in the west.
Well Riba is surrounding you, everywhere you go, everything you touch is linked to riba, it is part and parcel of the very economy.
thats why some shieks authorize those living in the west to get loans,
but only if they use it for the family, and not profit from it.

Ugaas... Go for it. Donate 10% of your proceeds when u sell the house in the future. Give it to the poor & call it a day.
