Meles Zenawi
I was listening to his speech. I really thought that the man wants the best for our country. The reality is that it is not in the benefit of Ethiopia to have an instable country next door. He said that the government should stay away from the warlords in Mogadishu such as indha cade and his cohort. Malez has spent time in Somalia and has made many friends. Somalia has protected him when he was running from the Amharic war.
All in all, I think the outcome is a positive step for Somalia and with a good relationship with our neighbour we can build a strong Somalia and a strong East Africa.

I believe that the U.S/Iraq thing is different. YOu can't compare apples with oranges. In the case of U.S. Israel is involved. They are not neighbours.
Alluring,
I found it on BBC, I think you may be able to find it on somali sites.
He siad that they will stay for 1 month; he even said that they have spend a lot of many and lost around 2-400 of his own people.

Although its good not to always think the worst of your enemy, it is also safer to expect the worst. Knowing the oppressive nature of his government and the countless wars he engages in, I personally wouldnÂ’t trust anything that comes out of his mouth. HeÂ’s a politician, his speeches are written for him and believe it or not there are people out there who research public opinion, whose jobs are to second guess how the people would respond to his actions and words. He like most of politicians will say one thing and do something totally different.

"We are brothers, enough is enough, no more to wars between us" - Meles Zanawi 1993 in Asmara Eritrea
1998, Meles invades Eritrean town of Badme and has half of his Ethiopian army killed in the process.
Don't listen to this snake, he wants best for himself and his beggar province of Tigray. Ethiopia su.cks, they are poor and they are trying to colonize us? How can a poorer country, with a supressive government colonize us and try to create a puppet government in another nation? This sounds funny to me....

These are two different countries, with two different objectives. Meles wants something, and TFG wants something. Fair trade, it's called "allies"
ANYONE EVER HEARD OF WWI OR WWII?

Biko,
I believe that we live in a racist world. The good 'old Anglo-Saxon countries look down upon the coloured people of the world. American Imperialism cannot be compared to Ethiopia. Several issues face many of the countries in the Sub-Saharan region of Africa. We need to find ways in which the economic, political and social instabilities that face these countries could be resolved. The racist west has been biased to Africa; in every sense... our enemy is not our poor neighbours, but the racist policies of the Imperialists. I look to the Organization of African Unity (OUA) for example, and their plans to build policies that would create security and stability to these severely instable regions. Thus, I believe that Confidence-Building Measures is the best solution. Did you know that many of the countries in South America for example have benefited from such policies, one example of that is Mercosur. CBMs are processes that are used to build security by reducing the problems that arise from suspicion and fear between nations. CBMs provide a road map for bridge building initiatives through demilitarization and diplomatic information exchange, providing a two tier solutions the CBMs are more likely to succeed in establishing security, stability, progress and cooperation in the region. Thus, Ethiopia and Somalia and for that matter other East African regions have had such policies previously.
