CNN: TOTAL F**K Ups!

Post by michael_ital »

NEW YORK (AFP) - International news network CNN has apologized to US presidential hopeful Barack Obama after it mistakenly pasted his name on a caption for a story on fugitive Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

A trailer for the feature on America's public enemy number one showed images of bin Laden along with the caption "Where's Obama?"

"We had a very bad typographical error," CNN presenter Wolf Blitzer later said, apologizing for the slip. "We certainly deeply regret the error. Today I called Senator Obama's office and formally apologized for that."

A spokesman for Obama, who has vaulted to rock star status among Democrats and is expected to run for the party's nomination for president in 2008, said he accepted the error was an innocent glitch.

"Though I'd note that the 's' and 'b' keys aren't all that close to each other, I assume it was just an unfortunate mistake, and don't think there was any truly malicious intent," spokesman Tommy Vietor told the New York Post.

This is an advanced psychological technique.

By 'accidentally' associating his name with Osama, people will subconsciously have a bad feeling about him.

I even saw something tonight saying that he used the name "Barry" in school. Somehow implying he was ashamed of his ancestry.

To be fair, guys, a lot of CNN commentators have given him good coverage. CNN even did a special going back with him to Kenya. He got a half hour free air time to show what a great guy he is (and he appears to be just that. I think - OK I hope - he's the real thing. I am deeply distrustful of politicians.). But he is too junior for an 08 presidential run. I would say 2016 would be better timing.

What CNN is refusing to acknowledge is that this is not a typo but a hack job.

Qaarxiye,
CNN does not need to go to that extent, being black is scary enough for the Mason Dixie America.

I do not believe this was a hack job. What do you think so? If CNN says "hey, we made an honest mistake" why can't you accept that? Why the conspiracy point of view?

Mad Mac,
I wasnÂ’t implying a conspiracy, I think that blundered was planted in intentionally by an individual, most likely an intern, PR wise, it makes sense (less complication) for CNN to sell it as a typographical mistake.
