SOMALIA VICTORY OR HAWIYE DEFEAT?

Post by Galol »

How do we see the Wadaad humiliation? Was it a Hawiye defeat or in reality a victory, albeit a pyrrhic one, for Somalia?

Afterall the Wadaads were an essentially Hawiye movement who saw the TFG(wrongly) as some kind of Daarood entity supported by Ethiopia.

Shall we celebrate their demise, albeit quietly knowing they were defeated with Ethiopian guns, and just rally round the TFG? Or shall we see this as Hawiye defeat which can only mean Hawiye resurgence and more violence?

This is beyond qabil, Whose who think that this is a tribal issue have very little knowledge of ICU or TFG.

^^

Sharia Vs Secular govt,

TFG consists of all somali tribes (Remember the 4.5 formula?)

ICU consists of Wadaads for all tribes and somali regions, Just look at the 91 members of Golaha Suurada.

Somaliland's window of opportunity to step up the ever elusive pipe dream for seccession. If it does not happen now, it will never happen.

Happy New Year Galol.

Galol,

If I tell you how many times I heard Marexan dying since the warlord fights in Xamar last year, you would know it was not a Qabiil movement.

Granted there were probably more Hawiye casualties, but it's not like they were fighting in Bossaaso or Luuq. The ICU's predecessor was basically Al Ittixaad and there was a lot of bloodshed in Gedo with a similar Ethiopian intervention, albeit not jets & tanks, more like helicopter gunships etc.

At least not among the rank and file. SO it makes no sense to make such an oversimplification.

Towards the end days of the ICU, there was a growing split over where things were headed. It was a struggle between the extremists and the moderates who wanted to engage the TFG and those who only wanted the ICU exterminated.

Galol,

However, the cynic in me thinks you were only cheering for the ICU due to your common Irir heritage........

OK, I'm just kidding Smile

However, let me ask you this question. Did you have pity for the Al Ittixaad youngsters in Luuq when they were being mowed down by helicopter gunships?

Or did you not care because they were Darood-led, specifically Marexan?
