Mohamed Abdi Farah

(SomaliNet) The Kenyan government Saturday has extradited dozens of Islamist prisons to the transitional federal government in Somalia – it was a response to early TFG demand that all Islamists held in Kenya be transported to Somalia.

Reports say that Kenyan airplane carrying around 40 Islamists has landed at the main Mogadishu airport on Saturday where they were handed over to the Ethiopia-Somalia forces in the capital.

Abdirahman Dinari, the government spokesman confirmed the news of handing over the members of ousted Islamic Courts Union to the government later Saturday.

“They were about 30 Islamist prisons including key officers who were brought in Mogadishu and extradited to the security forces,” Dinari told the local media.

He declined to give details about the exiled Islamists saying the government will soon release a report about their exact number, ranks and names.

Some reports say that all the extradited Islamists were in handcuffs and masked when they were being taking off the plane.

It is not known yet where they were taken and being held but it is confirmed that they are in Mogadishu.

Earlier, the Kenyan police said they had arrested several Islamists including key members at the border with Somalia.

The arrests came after US heavy air bombardment on the southern tip of Somalia where the fleeing Islamists hid as the Ethiopia-Somalia forces involved in fierce ground battle with the Islamists, taking control of the their last strong hold of Ras-Kamboni island on the border with Kenya.

Like I said, the Islamists can run, but they can't hide. At least not forever.

In Yemen they will eventually get picked up by the Ministry of the Interior. Or we will find them and kill them.
