Outside research:

Who said spoke this poem, what is the hidden message, who received it, and who was fighting?

Waayahay Ugas Diini Laughing

First of all the first post is not a Buraanbur. It is a "Shamal", a form of Dhaanto Mareexaan Mudug are famous for. Basically it is describing the geography of the Mareexaan tri-deegaan are extending from Shiilaabo to Buurgeesoole to Wardheere which ties in the triangle. Most of those names like Tuur Abeyr, Raqo, Ceel Baxay, Buur Ciireed, and Cilaanle are prized wells and deegaans the gelley use to survive until the Hawd blossoms again.

This was during a war. Right after the famous reer Diini vs. reer Garaad war that saw in reer Garaad defeat in what is today FADHI-GARAADLE, the reer Garaad leader went to live with the Ogaadeen in Qabri Dahare. One day he got word the Ogaadeen were planning a massive war against the Mareexaan to uproot them from the Hawd area and all the way to sea-coast where the Hawiye were living.

The reer Garaad leader was of course angry at the defeat to reer Diini and the losses he occurred, but of course no man will sit and watch a planning to destroy his whole kin. The reer Garaad eloquently and masterly composed a "hal-xiraale" gabay that was meant to be carried all the way to the leader of the Mareexaans who was Ilaawe. Ilaawe's descendents are reer Ilaawe of the reer Maxamed Siyaad today.

The gabay was long and cleverly hidden but this little part was the most important because it leaked the Ogaadeen plan and also told Ilaawe how to defeat them. When Ilaawe got the gabay, he wondered why the reer Garaad who would obviously be mad after their recent defeat would send a gabay to him so he listened well cuz his intuition told him something was up. After he listened to the gabay 2 times, on the third try when he reached this little part his mind clicked and he said "MAREEXAAN GET YOUR HORSES READY" and he followed the advise and defeated the Ogaadeen.

The little part that the reer Garaad leader composed a whole gabay to hid was this part.

Sanka Ceelbaxay iyo
Sagaalo irmaan
Qosol xeebta ka qaad
Ilaawow xiloqooq

"Sanka Ceel Baxay" is code for a little watering well near Shiilaabo and "sagaalo irmaan" was code name for a little tuulo that reer Kooshin and bah-Darandoole settle today called Laasacaano. It mean the Ogaadeen are there.

"Qosol xeebta ka qaad" means attack ambush them from the rear like how to a nomad Somali, the wave comes in and then recedes. It means the current is going back out into the ocean, the Ogaadeen are only facing you so "qosol xeebta ka qaad" meansing go northwest, descend down behind them and ambush them because they have absolutely no protection from the back. Basically the Ogaadeen like the ocean current going back out is only rushing out to Mareexaan and the beach, or the rear, is without protection.

"Ilaaqo xiloqooq" meaning Ilaawe know your position (gabay meant to translate as leader of the Mareexaan) which the reer Garaad meant by Ilaawe lead them to victory.

Fascinating huh?

I will ask about Ilaawe tomorrow. What was his full name?

By the way, how come the Ugaas was not the Marexaan leader?

Dude Ilaawe is well known guy. You don't even need to know his full name. Go to any Mareexaan spot and say Ilaawe.

Supposedly him and Aadan Sanyare (reer Nuur) always competed for Mareexaan leadership. No wonder Radamiir would always have something bad to say about Ilaawe everything time he was dissing reer Siyaad. Laughing Laughing

I never paid attention to what Raadamiir wrote but now that you mentioned Ilaawe, I will look through it. That joke about reer siyaad being Isku dirdirayaal was halirious. Laughing Dude seems to know alot although for the very strange guy he is.
