ARAB NATIONS SUPPORTED ETHIOPIA'S INVENTION IN SOMALIA
Arab Nations supported Ethiopia's Invention in Somalia
Nairobi (HAN) January 29, 2007 - The Prime Minister Meles Zenawi says nations including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and African nations have supported EthiopiaÂ’s military involvement in Somalia to eradicated Al-Itihad/ONLF and other .
The leader of Ethiopia Ato Meles told journalists that Ethiopia has received the unreserved support of African nations for the measures it has taken against the extremist and terrorists (Al-Itihad/ONLF, OLF and UIC) Militias in Somalia as well as for its Arab diplomatic actions.
Meles said countries expressed they recognize EthiopiaÂ’s intervention in Somalia was a proper measure and one without option, in addition to expressing that the victory gained was not only an Ethiopian victory, but also an African victory to secure the region.
Prime Minister Meles said his discussion with President Mubarak by Phone was focused on the bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Egypt, on conflict situations in Africa, particularly the case of the Southern Somalia.
The leader of Ethiopia ato Meles said he briefed President Mubarak about the measures Ethiopia has taken in Southern Somalia, to which Egyptian leadership expressed its full support to secure Somalia. The prime minister said about the upcoming eight ordinary session of AU Assembly would pass by way of a resolution, Prime Minister Meles expressed anticipation that the resolution should provide for ways of swift deployment of AU peacekeeping force to Somalia, and the finalization of the necessary preparations for it.

the courts blast the tfg for supporting ethiopian troops but yet they were begging for foreing fighters but atleast the tfg is saved by ethiopia and today they are enjoying of their power in villa somalia but where are their socalled arab brothers and the courts

As the group started gravitating to more confrontational & extremist views, it was impossible for many to still support them. Remember, the Arabs tried to sponsor peace talks in Khartoum.
So, even in that regard, the ICU overplayed their cards and the Arabs distanced themselves from the ICU slowly & discreetly.
I, myself during October & November kept stressing that the ICU shouldn't risk alienating interal Somali support due to perceived Arab support.
