Mmmm...Italian Food!
I can't help it I just have a thing for greasy, oily, cheesy Italian food. Spaghetti, linguini, fettucini, alfredo sauce, marinara sauce, chicken parmigiani, lasagna, carbonara, antipasto, you name it, I'll probably enjoy eating it.
Anyone else love Italian food?
What are your favorite foods?

^Yes, they do have an interesting culture and I agree their people are very "Terse Mondo" unlike other Europeans who act very sophisticated and all-mighty.
I enjoyed New York style Pizza while I lived in NYC, but now that I live in the South, it isn't easy finding an authentic pizza.

Italian is great but so is Mexican, Middle Eastern, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese and Somali foods.
I pretty much like everything, that's why I enrolled myself in some Baking course starting in March

Demure,
They say baking is therepeutic and brings out creativity in you. Make sure you don't hold back.
Indian food is very delicious, reminds of Bajuni cooking in coastal Somalia. Very auromatic and tasty.
It's sad that there weren't many International restaurants in Somalia prior to the civil war.

Muslim, I don't know about baking being therapeutic, the main reason I joined is I want to learn how to make Cheesecake and Scones lol. And I figure if I learn the basics of baking, I may figure out the secret behind Mufu too.
I think once Somalia gets it's act together Culinary Arts would become a priority since traditional Somali foods is so limited.

Garaad,
Yeah sxb. nice list. You know who else has delicious food, but nobody ever talks about it? Bajuni (Swahili) people in Mombasa, Malindi, Lamu, etc. They were showing their culture tonight on TV, it just brought back wonderful memories of playing ball on the beaches of Marka. The food, the people (100% Muslim), the music. If Somalia doesn't work out, I am thinking of retiring in Lamu, Kenya.

Re: Mmmm...Italian Food!
Demure,
Mmmmm...cheesecake, here in the South, they have a Pecan turtle cheesecake & cherry cheesecake, 100 times better than any traditional strawberry cheesecake.
You should try a delicatesan called Tira Misu (if you don't already know it), it will knock your socks off!
Anyway, one of the good things that came out of being refugees in foreign countries is our exposure to different cultures. I never knew we (Somalis) were so ethnocentric, I hope now that we have seen better & worse cultures than our own, it will help us to build a better Somalia.

Re: Mmmm...Italian Food!
Demure,
Baar Fiat in Manabolyo used to make the meanest cup of espresso in Mogadishu, I am still searching for one as good that one.
I've recently seen an ad of a hotel in Hargeysa (don't remember the name) and they have a Chinese restaurant, Chinese food ala Somali style, sounds interesting.
