I idolize him. I wish he comes back alive and drive these Habash out of our country.
He is now somewhere in Jannatul Fardowsa

Ahmed Gurey was a Turkish man, you need a foreigner to expel foreigner. And suppose someday if we find out (using) DNA, his Habash, than what? Are you going to bare yourself alive.

what is your sources, you Habash?
most major writings identify him as Somalli , Darood to be exact.
Look the statue we built for him in Mogadisho http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:King ... ey_Mog.jpg

Re: Somalia needs another Ahmed Gurey
Forget my source, lets just use the source you provided. It said his full name was, “Ahmad ibn Ibrihim al-Ghazi,†how Somali is that name? Can you tell me any Somali in this planet with such name?
“Imam Ahmad has traditionally sometimes been interpreted as being an Arab in Ethiopia[1], though he is more often represented as Somali native.[2] The traditional interpretation of his ethnicity as Somali, however, has been challenged. Adal was a multiethnic state comprising both Afars, and Somalis.â€
Ok, your own source say, “AN ARAB IN ETHIOPIAâ€, it also said Somali clan’s claim has been repudiated, dismissed, challenged, did you saw that?
He started his halgan at Adal, not Xamar, “Adal was a multiethnic state comprising both Afars, and Somalis.†To be exact Afar and Issa.
“Imam Ahmad was born near Zeila†Zeila is Issa province of Somaliland Republic. How did darood got to Zeila? Not a single darood lives there today let alone nearly 500 years ago. Issa’s who lives there Know who he was, they never say he was Somali. The Adal kingdom was Afar kingdom and they never had a claim. So your fairytale ends there.

i think most ppl realize ahmed gurey was Marehan and those who have nothing to do with the sayid would rather make him into foreigner then Marehan.

Would you care to explain what Marehan was doing in Zaila, 500 years ago?

Re: Somalia needs another Ahmed Gurey
I know of Somalis called Ghazali and Saadaat in my city. They belong to one of the major clans of Somalia. Somalis have been muslim for a good measure of that last 1400 years. Major tribes claim to be descendents of Arabia.
In the Second paragraph of this history, it states
"Mohammed bin Abdullah Hassan, better known as the Mad Mullah, was born in the interior of Somaliland, some say at Kirrit, in the late sixties, his father an Ogaden Somali"
http://www.onwar.com/aced/data/mike/madmullah1899.htm
If we follow your argument, we can make similar case that Mohamed bin Abdullah Hassan can not be Somali.
I trace to Sheikh Cabdiraxman Bin Jibarti upto 35 ancestral line all with Muslim names.

Re: Somalia needs another Ahmed Gurey
e,
I was one day sitting on starbucks and having conversation with a fellow Somali. We touched the issue of Ethiopian troops in Somalia at the mercy of American Defense, someone from the corner joined our conversation. Apparently, he was Ethiopian but he could speak Somali. There are lots of Ethiopians who can speak Somali very fluently. Most of them were asylees/refugees in our home back in the days.
