The Curse of Caydiid

Post by AbdiWahab252 »

This Abgaal friend of mine told me something I thought I would never hear from him. He explained that the Hawiye are suffering from the curse of the Late General Caydiid. Caydiid worked for the advancement of the Hawiye to become a powerful force in Somalia but each time we undercut him. He delivered us from the Darood Despot in 1991 and we turned on him and made Ali Mahdi President. He then rescued us from Afweyne and the Darood Dictator at Caymiiska when they were a stone throw from Xamar. Instead of being grateful, we conspired against him.

Today, we have a Darood despot back in charge. If only we had followed Caydiid's path, his curse would have never fallen on us.

I am still dumbfounded that he came to this realization 17 years later.

^^^Nigga please, Moryans don't matter no more...follow the lead of your master Mr. Yey, your president in Xamar. With more Hutus on their way to Mogadishu, there are more death and destructions coming to your way. It will only happen in MOGADISHU and it’s surroundings.

Interesting....
But out of all those upsets.. i think nothing would be more upseting to witness then his own son ...sitting on top of an Ethiopian tank next to afbiijo and American fighter jets hovering over them and 50 000 man deep army of xabeshis behind them ...

i can picture Hussein saying " Xamar is that way >>" 2 months ago...

Shame on any Somali individual who participated or contributed to this in any way for what ever reason because this is an unjustifiable and unacceptable..

SOMALIA IS SLITHERING INTO OCCUPATION FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE JULY THE FIRTS 1960!

A/w...

are you sure you wasn't talking to your close relative Laughing

Although Gen Aideed had accomplish great things, he too made mistakes which removed Hawiye subclans from each other.

So the blame game doesn't work.

It's funny how you stick in the past...always whinning how cadow got not elected etc. In what aspects is Cadow different from Abdiqassim, both are old Barre schoolboys.
Now you want to say something about abgaal people while in the end it was your uncle caato and qeybdiid who killed the great General. Now tell me why don't I hear you say: ''If only we had followed Caydiid's path, his curse would have never fallen on us''?

It's amazing how you turn the whole situation in: If you had followed my uncle qeybdiid and caato this would not happen...while your uncle was one of the Tigre whores.

Somaliweyn..

We listen to Caydiid and thats why HG were so succesful in conflicts during the 90s
the inter sacad conflict was alil issue whcih got outta hand... but If Hawiye was one ..then there would be a bigger power to settle these problems...

To sum it up..these are the fruits of Hawiye disunity...!! If the whole of hawiye got behind Caydiid then there would be no time for Inter Sacad none sense..and we probably would be looking at Somalia Run By Hawiye today...

I do not engage in IF-discussions.

What happened has happened..Gen. Aideed had strong points and weak points. His dead was a big loss for the genuine interest and security of Hawiye, although his enemies within his own subclan as the wider clan of Hawiye will disagree.

We sometimes forget that this man (may allah bless his soul) was human too. He did some many things to help his people and yet he made many mistakes too. We can't always look back at the past and not move on and play the "what if" cards. Caydid was let down my the people closest to him and everyone knows that, so lets just forgive eachother and move on. LEAVE THE DEAD ALONE..SUBXANALAH.

A/W,

For sure there is a curse on our people in general not only the Hawiyas....

I think if someone cursed us it is Aabbe Siyaad Sad I don't think it is adeer Caydiid... Because, when Siyad Barre was thrown, Cali Mahdi was elected as the President of Somalia and when he was broadcasting his presidency or whatever he was attacked by your clan...That is where things went wrong...

Why didn't you let Cali Mahdi lead? As long as we have the attitude of " Only clan x should rule" we will fail big time..

And walaal, never forget...when the struggle is to kill a certain tribe there is no success but when the struggle is to build a nation there is a hope for success...

We should let someone rule...and wait for the election if that person is not good enough...What is wrong with that? We have to understand no one or no group can rule the rest of the Somalis by force...Also no group is better than the others...Every Somali clan is good enough to have the president elected from them...Every clan is entitled to be part of the ruling...No to a dictatorship yes to democracy...

kambuli well said. Except the bit about Siyaad. he went past his sell by date although he was great. By 1990 Khadiija and dallaayad were fighting over whose kid was going to lead the country. While Siyaad was incapacitated from his injuries. And Great powerful leaders like General Gaani(the man who tamed the isaaqs) were discarded.

Abdiwahaab,

Maybe Caydiid himself was the curse Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

As long as Hawiye and Isaaq harbour hatred for the Daarood we will be cursed. And as long as we are thinking along tribal lines we will be a Tigre: Direct like Southern Somalia or Indirect as in Puntland and Somaliland.

Somaliweyn,

Laughing it was my Waceysle friend who told me that. That was the shocker.

kambuli,

Siyaad Barre was the man who started the trend towards dictatorship in Somalia. If we had the multiparty democracy of the 60s to continue, we might have evaded a civil war. Elections provided an opportunity for people to rebel against the current government without resorting to the gun. Ali Mahdi was clearly trying to bring back the same elements in Siyaad's regime. His declaration was premature as the sitting President was still alive & in the nation.

Cilmille:

I do believe that there is no "Darood" or "Hawiye" or "Issaq" group thought any more. The qabiil consensus fragmented as each subclan moved against the other. So to say that there is hate for Darood is not true. There were more Daroods who opposed Abdullahi Yusuf at Embagathi than Hawiyes.

The rhetoric of Hawiye vs. Darood died in 1992 after the defeat of the Siyaad Army. Each clan began to think of its narrow interests instead of a pantribal one.

Caydiid was not a curse. He was simply a man who was a product of dictatorship which refused to embrace the will of the people who wanted a change of President, and government. By having a dictatorship, Siyaad Barre violently put down any opposition. Caydiid was simply a man who knew the language of force which the Barre govt understood.
