Comparing the Somali Language

Rofl.

<.<

My friends and I recently had an arguement about how to say the word sweep in Somali. One side argued that it was Duulka Fikh and the other argued that it was Duulka Haq. I was apart of the latter side, justifying my reason by saying how can you peel the floor. We also had an arguement on the word cat whether it's Mukalal, Bisad or Yanyuur.

Have you done so in the past with your friends?

My mom's friend was telling me last night about some lady who had a miscarriage. She said,"Cunugii baa laga soo xaaqay"....I was like good God, aff Somali is so harsh. Lol

Israa,

First it is Dhulka Fiiq...not Fiikh, and the other one is dhulka Xaaq not duulka...

People who use the word FIIQ do not use it as peel because they use the word " Dhil" for peel.. so both of them are right... Laughing

Hannah,

The "xaaq" the lady used is not for the miscarriage... What she is talking about is the cleaning( I do not remember the right English term) of the miscarriage from the women's womb... Waxaa lasoo xaaqay waa dhiciska...

LOLZ.

I like how you made a different variation to my name (there are 3: Israa, Esraa and the name I currently have).

We were mostly picking on an Ogadeen friend of ours and the way she speaks so Somali since most of are Reer Hamar by birth. We just wanted to make her feel stupid as mean as it sounds. The funniest thing is she has the biggest Waqooyi accent out there yet only her grandmother is from there. There is an Isaak girl we know as well (I think she is Ogadeen as well) and she has no trace of being an Isaak at all. It's funny because we also made fun of the way she says Ika Baydh instead of Leexo.
