Somali literature,

Post by Dhaga Bacayl »

Who is you favorite poet/song writer of all time?

Here is my list from top to bottom.

Axmed Ismacill Diiriye (Qaasim) …had the pleasure of knowing him SIMPLY THE BEST.

Sallan carabey…one of the most influential poets of all time. He was head of his time

Max’m Xaashi Dhamac (Gaariye) ….the most educated poet I’ve ever met. He get range!

Singub…..personal problems aside, he is one of the top three play writers of all time.

Xasan Ganay….simply visionary writer

Max’d Cali Kaariye….very creative play writer.

Hadraawi is very good but he's very arrogant. I can't stand his personality. I took the time to spend time with him twice. I came out empty and disappointed both times. He's not charismatic at all. It takes 30 minutes for him to answer simple question. He seems like he is hiding something.

Cabdi Qays is way over rated.

I will only tally Heavy weight Abwaans of my favorite.

Mohamed Ibraahim Cajaaib--fluent with four languages, the most censored Abwaan in Somalia. His works have bene censored by the last regime and no single Abwan could challenge his works or figure out him.

And Abwaan-cum-colonel Fooldhuub.

Mohamed Abdi Aar-- what a talent song producer, a poet, and play writer,

Siciid Saalax-- poet, writer, song writer and melody maker, director of films, etc.

Abwaan-cum-guitarist Xudeedi, guitarist and song producer. He is also poet.

Qudhac,

How did I forget CABDI IIDAAN FAARAX

SAYIDKII DARAAWISSH
DIRKUU YIDHI IDIIN TALI
ANIGU DAAHA KAMA ROGIN
DADKUSE WAA YAQAANAA

Barkhad cas is another one.

Cadi gahayr isn't some one I respect. Like sayidka, he used to bash and bad mouth women. Also QABIIL was the core of his peoetic career.

Tima cade was another one. His obsession of xoriyad and his silence after bad governing by various so- called Somali leaders including Siyad barre TURNED ME OFF. If you talk the talk walk the walk. You breach about sovereignty why not protected.

Riig,

I don't know any of these guys. Sorry about my ignorance.

.

Siciid is in top 2 walaahi bilaahi. He produced Aqoon iyo Afgarad with Hadraawi and later on put that work into writing. He was the Abwaan of Iftin and Waaberi. He is the producer of more than 32 popular plays. He is also a teacher of one of the High schools in MN and for his service, he won the Mcknight Binger Award.

I have to catch up something, but I will come later to post most of their works.

Songs like "Aamiin Allahayoo" by Tubeec . "Alif la kordhabey Alif Hoos dhabey Ali laa Gode" "Inta Nolosha aadmiga guurka iyo barwaaqda" belongs to him.

Riig,

I didn't know there was a co-producer for AQOON iyo AF GARAD with Hadraawi. If so, he never gets credit for it by Hadraawi.

I know that song "nolosha" is very nice but why didn't he let a good singer like Lafoole to sing the song. That screaming voice killed that song walaahi.
