Why do Somalis act as morality police towards other Somalis?

Why do some people feel it is their right to judge people in a really condescending or malicious manner for:

How they dress, who they marry, who they befriend etc?

Do any of you give out 'advice' to complete strangers, and then gossip about them afterwards? What is the purpose of this?

Is it like a 'Functionalist/Durkheim' way of keeping mischief in the community down by keeping them in fear of being gossiped about/looked down upon.

Do you consider somethings that Somalis worry about (in other peoples lives) far too petty to be concerned with?
