President Girma Wolde-Giorgis said friendly relations between Ethiopia and Somaliland would further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
Receiving a parliamentary delegation led by Somaliland Parliament, Speaker Abdurahiman Mohammed Abdullahi yesterday, President Girma said the smooth relations between the two countries plays considerable role in their joint anti-poverty struggle.
President Girma also expressed conviction that members of the Somaliland Parliament would draw useful lessons from their discussion with Ethiopian parliamentarians.
The robust cooperation Ethiopia and the Somaliland have been enjoying has facilitated ways for free movement of peoples of the two countries, members of the delegation said.
They also said that they would be satisfied if Ethiopia upgrades its trade office in Hargeisa to the level of diplomatic mission.
Members of the delegation told President Girma that opposition political parties and the ruling party are working in harmony for the common good of the country, according to a senior government official who attended the talks.
Speaker of the House of Peoples' Representatives, Ambassador Teshome Toga also said Ethiopia is desirous of further strengthening its bilateral relations with Somaliland.
Conferring with the parliamentary delegation yesterday, Ambassador Teshome said the two countries have been enjoying excellent relations in trade, air transport, seaport, and infrastructure and security fields.
The Ethiopian Parliament is desirous of further bolstering the existing multifaceted relations between Ethiopia and Somaliland, he said.
The Somaliland Parliament has demonstrated readiness to draw lessons from its Ethiopian counterpart, Ambassador Teshome said, and expressed the House's readiness to share its experiences on parliamentary structure and procedures.
Ambassador Teshome recalled on the occasion that visits and experience-sharing forums have been held previously by the executive bodies.
The decision of the Somaliland Parliament to forge strong relations with Ethiopia emanated from its conviction that Ethiopia is the closest neighbour of Somaliland in East Africa, he said.
Ambassador Teshome on the occasion expressed the parliament's deep appreciation and concern for the people and administration of the Somaliland.
The Speaker also briefed the delegation on the self-defence measures Ethiopia has taken over the extremist forces that had been sheltered in Somalia.
Speaker of the Somaliland Parliament, Abdurrahman Mohamed said the discussions held with Ethiopian parliamentarians were constructive and fruitful as well.
He said the two parliaments have reached an agreement on ways of cementing strong relations in the future.

Riyaale says'
"rajo fiican iyo kalsooni buuxda ayaan kala soo noqday"
Madaxweyne Riyaale Oo Ka Soo Laabtay Booqashadiisii Addis Ababa: "Anigu Sacab Baan Tumayaa Maan Odhan...."
Somaliland.Org — Hargeisa, Somaliland — 10 January, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hargeysa (Somaliland.org) – Madaxweynaha Somaliland, mudane Daahir Riyaale Kaahin oo galabta dalka ku soo laabtay, kadib booqasho labada maalmood ah oo uu ku tegey Addis Ababa ayaa sheegay in ra’iisulwasaaraha Itoobiya uu u ballanqaaday in uu ka soo horjeedo wixii wax u dhimaya nabadda iyo jiritaanka Somaliland, isla markaana aanay saamayn ku yeelanayn Somaliland waxa ka dhacaya Soomaaliya.
Madaxweyne Riyaale oo uu socdaalkiisa ku weheliyey Wasiirka Maaliyadda, Xuseen Cali Ducaale (Cawil), waxa uu sheegay – isaga oo Madaxtooyada kula hadlay weriyayaasha, markii uu soo noqday – in ujeedada booqashadiisa Addis Ababa ay ahayd inuu xog ka soo helo xaaladda iminka ka socota Soomaaliya, isla markaana gaadhsiiyo arrinta Somaliland. Waxana uu warbixintiisa ku soo koobay,
““Ujeeddada safarkaygu waxay ahayd xaaladaha ka dhacaya geyigeenna inaan xogogaal u noqdo iyo inaan xogogaal u noqdo meesha la dhigay Somaliland. Anigana waa la i waraysanayey, aniguna fikirkaygaan gudbinayay. Waxaanan dadkaas aan la kulmay kala hadlayey inaanay waxa halkaas [Soomaaliya] ka socdaa saamayn ku yeelan Somaliland. Markaan idiin soo koobana – hadday tahay Ra’iisulwasaaraha Itoobiya, AU-da, EU-da iyo hadday safaaradaha kale tahayba – arrintaasi waa arrin Soomaaliya ku kooban oo wax inaga khuseeyaa aanu jirin. Taasna waxa ii dhex socday inaan qaddiyadeena cid kasta u sheego iyo mustaqbalka waxaan caalamka uga baahanahay, markaan idiin soo ururiyo rajo fiican iyo kalsooni buuxda ayaan kala soo noqday wax dadkeenu ka werwero oo halkaas waxa ka socda inaga saamayn karaana ma jirto.â€
Madaxweyne Riyaale oo warbixintaas kadib dhawr su’aalood weriyayaashu weydiiyeen, isaga oo ka jawaabaya, waxa ugu muhiimsan ee ay ka wadahadleen Ra’iisulwasaaraha Itoobiya, waxa uu yidhi, “Waxaanu ka wada hadalnay Soomaaliya inaanay arrinteedu inaanay ina qusayn oo weliba wuxuu ballan qaaday inaanay Itoobiya ogolaanayn in Somaliland nabadeeda iyo jiritaankeedaba wax la yeeloâ€.
Madaxweyne Riyaale waxa uu sheegay in Somaliland gaar looga saaray Soomaaliya, isla markaana Somaliland tahay dal gaarkiisa loola macaamilo.
““Mid ayaan idiin sheegayaa Somaliland guusha ay gaadhay waxa weeye haddii Soomaaliya la inagu daba nabi jirey, maanta inaan nahay dad gaar loola macaamilayo, taan u dedaalaynaana waa taas, taan safarka degdega ah ugu tagayna waa taas oo ah inaan xogogaal u noqdo wixii saamayn ah ee inagaga iman kara waxyaabahaas dhacaya…†ayuu yidhi.
Hase yeeshee, waxa uu sheegay in aqoonsigu aanu ahayn wax dukaan yaalla oo uu soo qaadayey, balse waxa uu sheegay inay tahay hawl u taalla Somaliland oo dhan.
Madaxweyne Riyaale intii uu joogey Addis Ababa, waxa uu ka hadlay Telefishanka dowladda Itoobiya, waxana uu sheegay in shacabiga Somaliland uu sacabka u tumayo dowladda Itoobiya hawlgalka ciidan ee ay ka waddo Soomaaliya. Hadalkaas oo xalay laga dhegeystey telefishanka Itoobiya oo laga daawado Hargeysa, isla markaana saaka lagu qoray wargeysyada ka soo baxa Hargeysa, ayaa dadweynuhu ka muujiyey la-yaab iyo qaadan waa, ayaa Madaxweyne Riyaale mar la weydiiyey su’aal arrintaas ku saabsan, waxa uu sheegay in aanu sidaa u odhan. Waxana uu yidhi isaga oo hadalkaas saxaya,
“Anigu sacab baan tumayaa maan odhan, laakiin waxaan idhi wixii Soomaaliya aad nabadooda wax kaga qabanaysaan waanu taageeraynaa, Itoobiyana waan ku taageersanahay wixii nabad ah ee ay koonfurta Soomaaliya la qabanaysoâ€.

the israelis refused to recognize somaliland, will the ethiopians?
why do qaldaans here cry crocodile tears about ethiopians in hamar when they are dancing tango like lapdogs with the ethiopians? aah, they want ethiopia to be only their friend. fact is they all think an anarchic somalia will deliever them recognition. keep motivating habargedirs to resist peace and law and order. munafiks.

wrong assumption.
you are assuming that the Embagathi faction can ever be a threat to us.
even if the emabagathi faction succeeds in conquering hawiye with Ethiopian troops,
they cannot use them against us.
they will have to talk to us face to face.
you cannot threaten somaliland, anarchy or no anarchy
you will not get rid of us.
give it up

no wrong assumptions cause no one wants war in somalia, or in somaliland but qaldaan hypocrism lacks creativity. somaliland deals with israel and ethiopia and doesnt like other somalis dealing with ethiopia. call them embagathi, mamagathi or kizulu, this is a somali government and most ministries come from the hawiye tribe. except the short lived ali mahdi and aden adde as presidents, somalia never had an abgaal prime minister. if you need peace in somaliland, keep your dirty hands out of somalia. your dirty belongs in the laundary.

You know what this shows?
It shows that Somaliland is not a bytch for Ethiopia. We oppose their politics in Somalia and we tell them on their face. Yet we can at the same time improve our biliteral economic and security relations. That is politics 101

Ethiopia is not the reason why Somaliland does not want to attack the Dhabayaco melitia in Sool. It has to do with the Somaliland view to bring about a peaceful resolution to the problem. We could have attacked but we don't want to give these lost Qurjiile souls that we can buy with money with the opportunity to get on the frontpages on the world's newspapers in the process tarnishing the Somaliland image.

this whole topic is to expose that somaliland wants to be closer to the ethiopians than the few qaladaans here who express crocodile tears for what is happening in somalia, when their president, parliament speaker and parliamentarians have gone to ethiopia and distanced themselves to criticize ethiopian actions in somalia. the opposite cause they want recognition from ethiopia. read riyaale's speech. are you against them? or, you act and think we all somalis are savages, and will keep ouselves in anarchy to be recognized? this view is an insult to all qaldaan intellect.
