The ONLF urges the Somali people to set aside their differen
April 11, 2007 — The EPRDF/TPLF regimes appalling record of human rights violations which has manifested itself repeatedly in Ogaden is now apparent in what can only be described as war crimes being committed against the people of Somalia.
Since the EPRDF/TPLF invasion of Somalia, hundreds of civilians have been killed with countless others wounded as a result of the deliberate shelling of residential neighborhoods. Many others of Oromo and Ogaden origin have also been specifically targeted for detention, torture and in some cases, execution.
Tens of thousands of Somali civilians are fleeing EPRDF/TPLF troops conducting military operations against civilian targets in Mogadishu. These people are fleeing with little in hand and face dehydration and famine as access to food and water becomes increasingly difficult.
Meanwhile, EPRDF/TPLF occupation forces continue to stir clan rivalries by providing arms to clan militias in various parts of Somalia. These arm deliveries continue to violation UN resolutions.
The ONLF would like to alert the international community to the disaster which is unfolding in Somalia. We would like to affirm that war crimes are taking place in Somalia currently and urge the world community to investigate and realize the full and immediate withdrawal of EPRDF/TPLF troops from Somalia.
The ONLF urges the Somali people to set aside their differences for the sake of the salvation of their nation and embark on a clear path toward national reconciliation leading to a future built by Somalis for Somalis.
The people of Ogaden continue to stand in strong solidarity with the Somali people as they resist EPRDF/TPLF occupation.

Re: The ONLF urges the Somali people to set aside their differen
These morons would have set aside their own differences first before they point a finger at the wider Somali population.
Btw, this organisation is defunct. It only exists in name only. Its armed members instead of at least cutting the Xabashi supply line which goes through their clan's territory, they instead burning trucks and stealing food.

Re: The ONLF urges the Somali people to set aside their differen
Nothing wrong with that sentiment, I, like any sane and proud Somali concur with what they are saying. It is imperative we (Somalis) bury our differences in relation to clan or sub-clans disputes in order to forge a better future for our people and country.
It is a stomach churning experience to witness Tigray and other Xabashi soldiers parading proudly in the capital city of Somalia nonchalantly, without any care and full of arrogance. They have also killed 1000s of our people.
I am ashamed to be Somali. I am joking, I am proud of being a Somali.
Long live our deen and people.

Re: The ONLF urges the Somali people to set aside their differen
I agree with them that we need to put our differences aside and face the common enemy as ONE if not become the next kilinka 6aad.
Long Live ONLF...
Long Live ONLF...
Re: The ONLF urges the Somali people to set aside their differen
Lord
You know it and everyone knows it that there is no such thing as an active and organised group called ONLF. They have all returned to their respective clans and some are now building roadblocks not for the xabashi army, but for the food carrying trucks from Hargeisa and Burco.
These Xabashi that you see in Somalia have happly without any fear drove by land all the way from Addis to Mogadishu. And everyday their fuel and food trucks are going about. Why aren't the ONLF, if it existed and were active, not ambushing these supply trucks?

Let them fight the Xabashi in their degaans. I want no fighting in my degaans of Banaadir.
Re: The ONLF urges the Somali people to set aside their differen
For those of you that dont believe that ONLF dont exist here is a background of the group.
Founded in 1984, the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) is an active insurgent group in eastern Ethiopia that seeks to establish an independent state for the Somali people in the Ogaden region of the Horn of Africa. Its members are largely drawn from the Ogaden and Darood ethnic groups, whose traditional lands stretch from eastern Ethiopia to central Somalia.
The ONLF accuses the Ethiopian government of widespread human rights abuses in the Ogaden, including illegally confiscating private property, interfering with relief work, and wrongfully expropriating international aid destined for the region. As such, they counter government influence in the region by staging ambushes and guerrilla-style raids on government forces. The ONLF is also known to kidnap foreign workers thought to be agents of the Ethiopian government or supporters of the regime in Addis Ababa. In the late 1980s, the ONLF grew to be the most dangerous insurgent group in Ethiopia, and it is widely believed that the group is directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of government troops. The abundance of religious and clan-affiliated regional terrorist groups makes it difficult to substantiate claims of responsibility for terror attacks committed in the area.
The ONLF was known to conduct joint operations with the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), which represented a different clan whose indigenous territories lie in the western portion of the Ogaden. The OLF, once the dominant anti-Ethiopian force in the region, has seen its power dwindle significantly with the ascent of the ONLF and has been content to ally with the ONLF and other groups to fight the Ethiopian regime. In 2000, the OLF and ONLF joined with four other groups to form the United Liberation Front of Oromiya, which is thought to have existed in name only, as attacks continued to be unilaterally claimed by the ONLF.
It is suspected that the ONLF has bases in Somalia, and the Ethiopian government accuses neighboring Eritrea of providing the ONLF with equipment and training. Ties between the ONLF and al-Qaeda have never been substantiated, though it is suspected that the Ethiopian government spread rumors to that effect to attract international assistance and attention.
Although the ONLF claims that its military actions are only undertaken by a separate military wing, the Ogaden National Liberation Army (ONLA), there is no proof that a formal separation exists between the two entities. Most attacks attributed to Ogaden insurgents are not claimed by the ONLA but rather by the ONLF through its propaganda mouthpiece, Radio Free Somaliweyn (Greater Somalia).
Current Goals: In June 2004, sources reported that the ONLF was discontinuing its violent campaign in the Ogaden. However, attacks on Ethiopian government troops continued. Efforts at peace failed again in July 2005, and in May 2006 the ONLF joined several political parties to form the Alliance for Freedom and Democracy (AFD), a coalition seeking to address the conflict in the Ogaden region through consultations with the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), Ethiopia’s ruling party. The EPRDF has yet to respond to the overtures of the AFD, and until substantive talks occur, the ONLF-led insurgency is expected to continue.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not that long ago where three Ethiopian military personnel have high ranking defected to ONLF and asked for a safe passage to Kenya. It is reported that many more soldiers are expected to defect to ONLF because of the massive corruption within the Ethiopia government/military.Majority of the Ethiopians soldiers that were station in parts of Ogadenia have been all deployed to Somalia.

Actually Ethiopians mostly come through Somaliland and some through Puntland --it will be a suicide mission for them to go through Ogadenia
