My aunt just came back from Baydabo and she has the New Somali Passport. Wow, this Passport would put the American one to shame. It has the holders' finger prints and its machine readable. Plust it has stunning design. I will go to Baydabo in about 2 months and I will get one
Finally, I'd able to brandish it on the face of Every Airport Security. No More being looked as a refugee

Has anybody seen the New Passport ?Are you willing to spend the 150 fee on it?

first of all, we had this topic a few months ago and like every other topic here it was hijacked and went off course, so what i wanted to know was, what are the requirements to apply for and recieve a somali passport besides the obvious? where would people go and what type of paperwork should they bring and expect? and finally, obviously Somalia is still split, so which foriegn country accept and recognize the so called new Somali passport?

Right now, The passport is not ready for public yet. ONLY Government employees have it now, or perhaps if you have someone close to the government . The government will make this Public sometime in this summer and will open an office in all Somali Cities and also in every big city outside Somalia.

The requirements are:
1- You must summit your finger prints
2- Pay the $150 Fee( $100 if you are in Somalia)
This Passport will be recongnized by The United States, The UN, The African Union, The Arab Union, and The European Union. Prety much most of the world. Only Eriteria and Somaliland may not accept it, but who cares

with my U.S passport i can pretty much go through security checks and see very limited "random searches" abroad, i wonder what it would be like if and when i come through the line with a Somali passport, will they first look at it and laugh hysterically while pointing a finger at me or throw me a beatdown and toss me in jail

so, i'm going to be skeptical about this and say this whole somali passport thing is bull, no thanx i'll hold on to my curent one.

Fingerprints on the passport? whos Einstein idea was that?

Yeah.. i seen he new passport its called E-passport and its a united somali-ethiopian passport..if you need any further details... contact the ethiopian embassy either in Baidabo as our friend Mj pride said or at its Head courters in Addis abba
