I've never had a problem. But it also depends on which method of payment you plan to use. i.e direct withdrawl, credit card, etc. My advice is to use direct withdrawal (no danger of credit card fraud). Open a seperate account at a bank OTHER than your regular bank, and use it specifically for Pay Pal. Keep a low balance (i.e $5), enough to keep it active, and deposit money ONLY when you plan to make a purchase. And then make it only for roughly the same amount as the cost of the item. This way your account is seperate from your regular account, and there's no danger of anyone gaining access to your real account. Virtually fool proof.

I conduct alot of business sales transactions over the internet and I can definitely say that Paypal has been very secure in all my transactions thus far. I've had no issues receiving payment from my customers who choose to pay via credit card, but personally I would NEVER give any site my credit card information no matter how military encrypted they claim to be.

Ask Mike suggested open a separate bank out and just put enough money to cover your purchases...nothing more nothing less.

Which is exactly why i suggested that abstaining from giving your credit card info over the net is the safest and only way to guarantee that no fraud takes place. The thing is there are some unscrupulous vendors over the net and they use their disguise to rob people blind. I'm very straightforward and honest with all my customers. I've never requested a customer give me their credit card info over the net or by phone. I prefer them doing the transaction via paypal or through a reputable bank but that's just me.
