FISHING VESSELS ARE FINED OVER 1 MILLION US DOLLARS FOR ILLEGALLY FISHING IN THE WATERS OF PUNTLAND

The Minister of Fisheries, Ports, Marine Transport & Marine Resources, the Honorable Saed Mohamed Rage stated, the Ministry issued a $1,055,500.00 penalty in accordance with the Puntland Fisheries code Lr. 61 in the case of a 12 vessels caught illegally fishing in the waters of Puntland between Ras-Asyr and Alula.



The Honorable Minister stated after a thorough investigation by his officers, the Ministry found 8 tons of fish on these vessels for the purpose of trade or business without holding a valid Puntland Ministry of Fisheries commercial fishing license

“We hope the outcome serves as a warning to those who are now conducting illegal fishing within our waters without valid license issued by the Ministry of Fisheries”
