Fah122, you tell me where these suiciders came from? WE never had suiciders. It is true that they are hard line elements in Mogadisho that were trained in Afghanistan camps.

Would-be suicide bomber caught alive in Somalia
7 May 7, 2007 - 1:39:45 PM
MOGADISHU, Somalia May 7 (Garowe Online) - Somali and Ugandan soldiers captured a suspected suicide bomber Monday minutes before he detonated himself near the capital's main seaport, authorities said.
The would-be bomber was detained alive by alert Ugandan soldiers guarding the seaport. The soldiers carefully disarmed the bomb strapped on the suspect's body, according to police sources.
Somali authorities have refused to publicly comment on this case but said that the suspect, a Somali male, is being questioned at a local jail.
Suicide bombings are a relatively new development in Somalia, despite the country's track record of violence.
Since 2005, suicide bombers have tried to assassinate Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf, Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi, and have increasingly targeted Ethiopian troops in the capital, Mogadishu.
Somali and Ethiopian troops have intensified their disarmament efforts, following intense fighting last month that killed at least 1,500 people and displaced nearly 400,000.
Troops raided a notorious Mogadishu gun market on Monday and took away stockpiles of weapons, business sources at the Cirtoogte (Sky Shooter?) gun market said.
They took away [mostly] munitions for smal and heavy weapons,? said one gun shop owner.
Government soldiers also conducted house-to-house searches in northern Mogadishu for the first time Monday, residents and neighbors said.
The home searches were concentrated around the neighborhoods where battles were most intense last month, as soldiers searched for weapons and wounded fighters hidden by relatives or associates.
Meanwhile, in the same neighborhoods, joint Somali-Ethiopian-Ugandan soldiers continued de-mining efforts for the third straight day, with at least 3 landmines recovered thus far, according to military sources.
Somalia's transitional government, backed by Ethiopian troops and African Union peacekeepers, hopes to disarm and stabilize Mogadishu before June 14 when a national reconciliation conference of clans? is scheduled to convene.
But experts worry the Islamist-led insurgency has yet to be defeated. Islamist leaders have vowed to continue guerrilla-style attacks against Ethiopian invaders? and their Somali and AU allies.
Earlier Monday, four police officers were wounded after their van drove over a landmine

Somalia: Roadside bomb blast sparks the casualty of five policemen
Aweys Osman Yusuf
Mogadishu 07, May.07 ( Sh.M.Network) A road side bomb blast caused the casualties of at least five Somali troops on Monday. The bomb exploded as a group of Somali troops onboard a police pickup truck passed by on route to the presidential palace in south of the capital Mogadishu.
Witnesses told Shabelle that five police men who were seriously wounded in the blast were removed from the wreckage. Asho Ali, a witness, said she saw five policemen bleeding after the blast. “I saw five with blood everywhere on their body. At least three seemed dead because they were not moving at all,†she said.
The explosion occurred Aden Adde main road near the president’s house. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. This is , however, the second bomb attack against government soldiers since the government supported by its allied Ethiopian forces got the upper hand over the Islamic insurgents late last month after fierce battle in which more 1,000 civilians were killed and nearly 2400 were wounded.
A convoy of Ugandan troops passed by the route before the explosion happened, according to witnesses. Buildings along the roadside were badly damaged by the shrapnel.
The Somali government was not available for comments over the incident.
