(SomaliNet) At least 16 people have been killed in a collision between an army truck and a taxi in southeastern Angola, the state-run newspaper Jornal de Angola reported on Monday.
According to the authorities, the truck was travelling at a high speed on Saturday evening when it hit and then flipped on top of the taxi near Camungamba, the newspaper said. All the fatalities, including three soldiers, occurred in the taxi.
The Angolan government has established a commission to investigate the causes of the accident.
Many roads in Angola are unlit, forcing vehicles to rely on their lights and those of oncoming traffic for visibility. The country\'s road system also is in a state of disrepair after neglect during the 27-year civil war that ended in 2002.
