(SomaliNet) A former governor of the northern Nigerian state of Adamawa, Boni Haruna, has been charged with looting the treasury, court officials said on Wednesday.
News sources say Haruna was arraigned before an Abuja High Court on Tuesday about allegations that he stolen 93-million naira during his eight-year tenure as governor from 1999 to 2007.
The former governor pleaded not guilty to the charges and he was remanded in prison custody until Thursday for another hearing.
