Published on: 2007-06-22 14:41:55

(SomaliNet) A Tanzanian witchdoctor who is said to have been administering oaths to over 100 youths undergoing illegal military training in a forest in Coast Province is being held by Kenyan police.

According to news sources, the arrest was made on Monday when police raided Mlungunipa Forest in Kwale District, where a gang is understood to have been undergoing military training.

The lightning operation led to the recovery of military training manuals from Tanzania as well as instructions on oath administration,
sources say

They say police laid an ambush on the gang on the fateful day and shot dead one person and arrested a former military officer.

He served in the Kenyan army between 1970 and 1984 and is suspected to be the leader of militiamen aligned to what is known as the Mombasa Revolutionary Republican Council.

The police are yet to disclose the identity of the Tanzanian witchdoctor, who they say was in the company of a Kenyan counterpart. –Guardian
