(SomaliNet) As the crackdown on the gang continues in Kenyan capital Nairobi, Police on Friday night killed eight suspected members of the outlawed Mungiki sect in Nairobi and Murang’a and recovered pangas and a pistol.
According to available reports, for the second consecutive day, police recovered a severed head and genitals dumped on a city street only a day after another head was found along Kirinyaga Road near the Globe Cinema roundabout.
Initially, police shot five suspected members in a related incident minutes after they had bought pangas and carjacked a motorist in Ngomongo area.
Kasarani police boss Paul Ruto, said police received information about a gang of five young men who bought pangas, sharpened them in Ngomongo area and carjacked a motorist as he was entering his compound at about 9:00 p.m.
The suspects, who police say appeared to be looking for someone, drove the stolen vehicle around Kasarani before they were cornered in Ruaraka and shot dead after they defied an order to surrender.
