(SomaliNet) A medical official in Tanzania said Saturday tat ten people died and 19 others were hospitalized after a cholera outbreak erupted in northern Tanzania.
The medical officer in the country\'s northern Mara region Valentino Bhangi, said the deaths occurred during the past week, but the disease was only detected on Thursday.
Medical supplies and teams of medics have been dispatched to the region, he added.
Cholera, a water-borne disease, is contracted by drinking and eating contaminated substances and causes severe diarrhoea and vomiting. It can be fatal if untreated within 24 hours. - Sapa-AFP
