Uganda: Thieves rob Ugandan children\'s choir in U.S

Published on: 2008-08-26 02:42:36

(SomaliNet) Members of a Ugandan children\'s choir travelling in the United States had two laptops, video equipment and a passport stolen from a tour van in Chicago.

Co-ordinator of the SIFA African Children\'s Choir, Carrie Harless, says the group includes 20 boys and girls raising money for a school and orphanage in their home country.

According to reports, the van was broken into just as the children were about to perform at a Chicago church on Sunday.

Harless says she is most upset because the laptops contained photos of the children\'s families. She says many of the children lost parents to HIV and Aids, and their last pictures with family were stolen.

The Chicago church pastor is asking the community to help locate the thief. - Sapa-AP
