(SomaliNet) Somali government has agreed a cease-fire with the Islamist opposition and said that Ethiopian troops will start to leave the country in November.
The Ethiopian troops, who came to the Somali government\'s aid in its fight with the Islamist militias in 2006, will start their withdrawal by quitting the cities of Beledweyne and Mogadishu. They will complete the withdrawal, a condition set by the rebels, next year.
More than 10,000 people throughout Somali have died this year in the fighting between the government and the rebels. Last week, more than 40,000 people fled the capital Mogadishu. More than one million Somalis currently live in refugee camps.
